"Well..." Jake mused, drawing out the ll's as he thought. "I guess it would have to have a certain amount. But really, it wouldn't be water because that temperature is much higher than the temperature of water turning to gas. It really would be pure rock, if that makes any sense," he suggested. "As it is, well, I think our best bet is to freeze the lava into paths for people to run to safety on." It was the only suggestion that Jake could come up with. The only problem was, how would they know which buildings had people and which didn't? And for that matter, how often would Toshiro and Martha be able to do this? AFter all, changing the preferred shape of molecules took quite a bit of energy; inertia and all that. Ugh, he wished electricity would be of some use in any situation but, nope. He was pretty useless.
(I thought Martha was a mermaid? O.o I'm confused now)

Toshiro grimaced "well let's find out." He sucked in a breath and walked over to where some lava was flowing, and lowered his hand towards it. When he was about a foot from the lava, the area around it froze. He quickly pulled his hand away before he used to much energy. He rocked back on his his heels, waiting for the light headness to go away. Then he went back over to Jake. "there's a lot of humidity right above the lava. If I touch anything with any form of water, it freezes. I can't control it."

"hmm, so that means there is just the problem of sustainability... well..." Suddenly something occured to Jake, he'd been so stupid! "I got it, it's in the lava! All it needs... heat... energy... a bit tweaked here... don't want to shock anyone... it's worth a try!" He realized he'd only been speaking in partial thoughts and sentences and blushed. "Sorry. The answer is in the lava itself. Heat is energy, correct? Well, so is electricity. So in effect I really control energy in it's concentrated form. So, if I were to take the energy being constantly fed to us by the volcano and transfer it to you guys somehow - without electricuting you of course - then we'd be able to do this indefinately without any of us dying of overusing our own energy stores! And my taking the energy would be partially cooling the lava already, therefore making it easier on you guys," he finished. By now he'd been gesturing wildly and taking half-paces in either direction.

Toshiro smirked. "its worth a try." He glanced at the lava. "you said you control energy?" He asked, though it was more of a whisper, and not really directed at Jake. A memory flashed before his eyes, of being sucked of his energy so he could hi longed stand. Then watching as his parents were killed...he shut his eyes, blocking out the memory.

"In effect," Jake replied. The lava was still coming, he could see that now. It was just running over the hardened lava, steaming viciously as it hit the ice.
