Part of it is also how much fodder you have for them. If you have very little fodder for your rare hoard, you would want to set your goal lower.

So, to answer the question at the same time:
I set my goals by thinking about what number best fits the hoard xD
Sounds weird, and probably is weird, but the thing is, I look at the pets and ask myself what would be a good goal.
This is how some of my hoards are limited to 10 while others go up to 100+ (and why there are some with weird numbers such as 11, 45 or 333) ^^
One of my OMGSC hoards is only 10 pets strong, yet I also have a very rare hoard that had a goal of 50.
Some have obvious meanings to them, too.
The 333 and 11 hoards are good examples. Three (and 21 xD) is my lucky number, so I'm a fan of hoard goals that have something to do with it. Like 30, most the time. But for the Nebula dogs I felt like going for something higher, taking on a bit of a challenge. And the 11-pet-hoards are actually three hoards that belong together, so the total number is 33 ^^
But really, most the time I just see the pets and think 'Yeah, those look like I need 50 of them' or 'I think 20 is enough'.
They have that kind of feeling to them xD

It might just be me, but I prefer going for whatever number looks 'best' to me over restraining myself because of low fodder.
If I happen to not have the fodder, or, like now, work on too many hoards at once, I sometimes set lower, temporary goals,
and then go back to pursuing the original one as soon as I'm able to.

I'm still at 9, and also have no cocoons left so whatever the other outcomes might be, I'll have to trade for them .-.

Making some small progress on the jelly ponies, though. 25 so far. They pop up in paperclips everywhere, so it's not too hard to find them xD

Finally got my March Chicken hoard over 700! Really pleased.

I was wondering if nay of the chicken hoarders {or anyone else} knew any of the chickens real names.
I have a list of a few, but I am not sure what they are all called.

Chicken Names?

Like Breed Names?

Yeah, like the dogs are called sunback etc...

@Raire- I did it by taking how many I had at the time {let's say 10} and adding twice that number. So, the more pets you have in your hoard, the higher your goals will be set.
But that's just how I do it.
Another way is to go by 5s or 10s, depending on how rare the pet is that you hoard.
Obviously if you hoard rares list, you would want to go up by lower numbers, as they are harder to obtain. Part of it is also how much fodder you have for them. If you have very little fodder for your rare hoard, you would want to set your goal lower.

I disagree with the last part greatly lol, my yellow toxic hoard counts 64 toxics and my black border collie hoard counts 37 advents. My toxics are unlimited and my border goal is 54 ^.^ I also hoard all toxic related pets, so the nicks and lions, both are and my number on that is 173 right now. No limit or goal for those either :3

I have had many uncommon and lower hoards that only have 20 or even less pets in it :3 I have some hoards that i only have 4-5 of the pet, just cause that makes a line ^.^

My biggest hoard at the moment is my lemur hoard, with almost 2k pets. A goal is just something you set for yourself and you don't have to set it lower just cause the pet is rarer ^.^ To me goals mean something (Like with my borders) and it wasn't determent cause of their rarity.

How do you decide on a goal for your hoard?

Do you always hoard up to a certain number or does it vary? If yes, why?
How do you decide that you want to hoard one pet endlessly and the other with a set goal?

Pets i find pretty and have the need to hoard, i usually only get 5 or 20 (1 line or 1 page). Some hoards that mean more to me have goals, some dont C: I decide purely on what feels good xD

XD I thought you mean actual chicken breed names. The first month chickens have actual breed names (Leghorns, Rhode Island Red, etc) like you have already figured out - I'm just calling the "beige chickens" Brown B-day Chicken and the blue kind of that same chicken the Ice B-Day Chicken (I know - creative, right?). The Chicken covered in confetti (Sorry! I'm too lazy to post a picture...) I call the Confetti Chicken... But that's what I call them ^^ They aren't the official names, but... Eh

So close with completing this hoard, I only need 13 more total of the pink spotted female and the brown male. My Goal was 100 total with 20 per outcome in the group. So close yet so far <3


Another hoard out of 100 that is almost done but this one I feel will be much harder to complete ;-; It is 100 total, 25 pet outcome. I just need 17 of the uncommon outcome though they are proving troublesome to trade for as not many people have multiples.

New/Ways to go hoards:

Need 10 more for a modest total of 25 hoard dogs. <3 I have always been fond of this outcome.


Just started this darling hoard, goal is ten per outcome for a total of 40. Believe I am at 14 at this time.


Another new hoard of mine, I feel like a hoarder hoarding hoards lol. Again looking for ten per outcome for a total of 40 <3 Have under ten so far.

Five each of these guys though I have yet to find any extra white drafts.

I feel like I have a problem with hoarding pets haha, I just want to collect millions of every outcome ;-;

Well, I decided my next goal for my World Wide Web spider hoard will be 15,000 spiders. I'm at 11,100 right now. So maybe I'll make that goal by the end of next month? Fodder disappears so fast with this hoard... OTL
