Kia #271 Water ~Winner posted.

Postby wind song » Sun May 12, 2013 4:44 am

GUYS, SERIOUSLY.
THIS WAS SO HARD, OH GOSH ;U;
I had like 6 people helping me |D
I finally made a decision!

The winner is...
Chasing Dreams!
I loved the simplicity of your form, it had a very different approach. A simple, heart warming memory between the mother and daughter, I liked how it had less of a 'I am magic and control water with superamazing powers' hint in it, the art was amazing too <3
You are already a great and active kia lover so I am sure you will take great care of her!

Another from everyone, including myself, loved was Maeflower's form! So well written, heart-wrenching and just beautiful! Well done <3
I promised myself I wouldn't but you will be getting a runner up!
It will also be an element based kiamara, and you can post or pm me a few elements you like and a few you truly dislike, no promises I will use any of them, but I just don't want to end up designing a kiamara you are not connected to!

Also, a huge huge honourable mention to SolarDaemon, who's form I also adored!

Thanks for entering guys,
And just remember for the future element kiamaras~
The element kiamaras are more so representations of their element, kiamaras are not magical creatures, apart from the rare special ones like #100 or #200. Each element based kiamara has a deep deep connection with their element that is unique and hard for others to understand- they might have been saved by their element, or maybe in some strange event of confusion and mystery have been able to 'control' it or make something happen with t, but they do not simply grow up being able to posses and control their element every day like a superhero. The forms were amazing though and you do not need to change anything, people have done crazier things with their kias, just keep this in mind c:

Conrats once again to Chase! <3

"Can you hear it Lotus?" The whisper of my mother's soothing voice echoed in my ear.
"Hear what, tell me." I whispered. My little paws shoved at her curly fur.
"The dripping of the rain. It's a blessing, just like you." Ah, I knew it. My mother cherished the rain too much. She loved water. At times, I'd think she loved water more than me, but that was impossible. I was everything to her. I shook my head, my furry mane covering my vision.
"Mom, when can we go out and taste the rain!" I barked with excitement.
"Whoa, slow down sweetie, first you have you imagine it. What does it look like? You've heard it. But don't underestimate sound my darling." I squinted my eyes and tried to think up a though. Anything to match this odd, yet calming noise I've been exposed too.
"Let me tell you a secret, listen closely." I crouched by my mother, her warm fur covering me. The best blanket I could ask for. She wrapped her tail around my body, I felt so at home with her.
"I'm listening." I yipped, my tail wagging with excitement.
"Okay dear." She giggled, "Lets begin. It was a long time ago, when you weren't born. But! You were inside me. Your father had gone to gather supplies for the dens. As a big storm was heading in and we needed to stay safe. The rain started to pour down, soaking our fur. Making matters so much worse. The tide blew up gusts of water, drowning our pack. It was only you and I who escaped. And... I always wondered why..." My mother stopped to brush a tear away from her eye.
"Anyways, I believe you saved my life. You are special Lotus, don't forget that."
I nodded and snuggled up against my mom. These new thoughts conflicting in my mind. How could I have saved her? From what? What was my father like? If she thinks rain is a blessing, then why did it kill our pack?
I didn't know what to think anymore. I needed to see this strange blessing for myself. Without waking my resting mother, I ventured out of the den. It was cold outside. And the ground was damp. Cool, wet liquid pelted from the sky. But my fur absorbed it naturally. I found some more of this so called water in a settled form. I jumped into it, bracing myself for landing when my paws slipped through the surface and I feel beneath it.
Water rushed into my lungs but I didn't feel a difference. Perhaps a slight temperature change, but nothing more. Then I heard my mother scream, she raced out of the den and howled my name.
I couldn't speak in the water. But I didn't know how to escape it. I swung my paws around, now feeling rather frightened that I'd be trapped here. The water swirled around me and then dissolved into the air.
My mother starred at me, her eye's wide open.
"L-Lotus! My baby, are you okay!?" She cried, running towards me and licking me dry.
"Yeah mom, I'm fine." I said, licking her nose.
"I knew it, I knew you were blessed. You've saved yourself once Lotus, and now you've saved yourself again." My mother said with cries of joy. She guide me back to our den, where I snuggled up next to her. My new founding's of what water was, left me with little curiosity about this word. Now that I knew what my mother raved about so much. Nothing else really mattered.

The day my element was discovered: My element was discovered thousands of years ago, but nobody really knew about it. It's only now that everyone has come across Emerald Aquarius, and the element of Water. Emerald Aquarius is beautiful, and like me, loves swimming because it makes her feel happy and free
Extra: If I was an element, I would love to be water. Also, my starsign in Aquarius, and that has something to do with water. I love swimming, and I love this girl, she is gorgeous! Thank you for doing this! ^^

The day my element was discovered:
Too many times have I left my village, Tarotsu. Too many times had my father told me, "No, Aryan. Too dangerous." His accented voice life a slap too my face. Scornful and naive I went anyway, thirteen times to be exact. That's when they appeared. The hunters of the gods, every night one told me, they would hunt for the gods. Bring the gods the food that they catch and be rewarded with millions of pieces of gold. Since my village and family were poor, I asked him how I could become a hunter. That's when everything went Topsy turvy. The gods, Wyn, Crow, and Juleni, were masters of power and money. When I told them they could use me as a hunter, they recognized me. I was one of the four. Yes four, other Kiamaras that would change the world. Water, the element power I had been birthed with gave me incredible gifts. Changing water into ice, breathing under water. Marvelous things, that's when I was told my mission. Juleni, my least favorite god, told me that I must seek others like me, Harriet, Truman, and Cole. The earth, fire, and air kiamara's.

The day my element was discovered:
I must have been... only a few months old - three, four at most - when I discovered how much water would shape my life. It was a very strange discovery. At the time... I admit that I was clouded by my uncertainty and fear... But now I understand that this was a necessary thing. Even if it hurts.

It was a fairly nice day, as far as I can remember. It was late August - still summer, still warm and sunny most of the time. This particular day, however, was a bit different than most. This was the day that my parents finally decided to introduce me to the ocean. Of course I had been in and near water before - baths, a little wading pool, you know; but this was different. It felt different, even before we'd even gotten to the beach. The strange thing? I was dreading it. I was only a few months old and I had the worst feeling about the beach. There was no explaining it - the feeling was just there. And yet, I was still excited and anxious to finally see this rumored "never-ending" water.

I was a strange child. I understood things that children were not supposed to understand. I hardly ever spoke, and when I did, it was always to my mother or occasionally my father. It's only been recently that I've started to be more willing to talk to those I don't know. But I always watched, listened, tried to understand, and when I did understand something, I was satisfied. Confident. Perhaps overconfident. Because on this pleasant summer afternoon, I was about to encounter something that I had no explanation or understanding of.

    A tsunami.

That morning, none of us had any idea what was going to happen. My mother, father, a few friends and their children, and I - we just sprawled around the water and participated in various activities. An older Kiamara, one of the few I trusted other than my parents, was helping to teach me how to swim and avoid the bigger waves. As much fun as I was having splashing around near the shore, I couldn't shake the feeling of foreboding and discomfort. It was almost itching at my mind, bothering me until I finally went to my mother and suggested that we go home. I told her that I was too tired to continue playing - but she was having a good time chatting with the other adults, and did not listen. I doubt she even really heard me. And so, I went back into the ocean.

Thinking back, I don't really remember any real connection with the ocean. It's strange, because now I do - but back then... I wonder what has changed since then? Perhaps I was just too concerned about the bad vibes I was getting to pay attention to the ocean.

We had only been there a few hours when an earthquake - not too big or anything, but very long - tore through the ground beneath us. It send the two younger Kiamaras into a panic, and frightened all of us, regardless of age. It seemed to be neverending - the palm trees around us shivered and shook; others around us also looked scared. My father told us not to worry, that it would all be over soon, and that nothing bad would happen - there had been much larger earthquakes than this one, he said. And he was right - only a few seconds after his words, the earth grumbled and settled down back into its slumber. The sea, however, had other ideas.

At first - I thought that the earthquake was what had set off my warning bells. But a few minutes later, I came to the conclusion that this couldn't have been it. It wasn't big enough, not devastating enough, to have given me that bad of a feeling. No, the itch in my head was telling me that something worse was on its way.

No more than a half hour later, the true disaster made itself evident. There was a few minutes of confusion all along the shore as the waters receded back into the ocean, exposing a huge part of the once-submerged beach.

That was when we saw it. The tsunami itself. Stretching high, high into the sky, starting all the way back at the origin of the earthquake, where the water was raised just a few feet higher, and then piled on top of itself as it made its way back to shore. As the nature of this wave became evident, the panic began. As quick as they could, the adults rounded us up and told us to run inland, as far and as high as we could get from the beach. With a sense of dread, we did as we were told - and ran for our lives.

A few minutes after we started running, the wave hit the beach. It pounded over the trees and shabby buildings and old homes and dragged them along, creating a flood of debris and raging water. My mother and I - the rest of our party had been seperated by the crowds - found a tall, strong tree and climbed it, thinking that it would hold its ground - and if nothing else, provide a fairly sturdy flotation device if the water uprooted it.

However, we did not anticipate the enormous palm tree coming towards our safe haven at full speed. I was hit by one of the whipping branches of our tree, knocked out immediately, and swept out into the waters.

    ---

When I woke up; how much later I'll never really know, I was with strangers. They had pulled me out of the water and gotten me to safety, and I was grateful to them. But - my family. My mom's body was never found. My dad's was - but it was barely recognizable. I had been orphaned by the water - and yet - and yet - why was this strange connection there? As if - as if there was no force on earth that could have stopped the tsunami, nothing that could have saved my parents...

And yet, to me, it felt as if the ocean had saved me. Kept me afloat even while unconscious, and brought me to help. I felt only gratitude towards the ocean - it was the earthquake that had killed my parents. Simple as that, and yet devastating.

But the water? I trusted it. I felt at home in it. Particularly the ocean.

[ gah, I'm sorry, I went way way over the word count... ugh I'm sorry ;n; but I just had all these ideas and I had to get them out... ;A; ]

I'm putting my extra towards the extra 300 words in my story x3 I hope that's alright?

To whoever is reading this, if you finish the first 2 paragraphs and feel something stur inside you stomach, put this journal down immediately. Believe any story your parent(s) have told you about your past and live on life as normal as you can. If you don’t feel anything go ahead and keep reading, but remember this may or may not be true. Let’s set some things straight. I am Okeah and I live in Bilibino, Russia. It is the beginning of May and perfect almost summer weather. Anyways, I was walking along the beach when all of a sudden, huge grey cumulonimbus clouds roll in from the South. Great. More storms. For some odd reason, we had had about 15 storms in a month. Usually we have only about 2-4, but then again I just turned 7 years old so who knows. Back on topic. So it starts raining and then this huge tidal wave rolls in from the ocean. Yeah…I happened to be right in its path. So, it blows me off my feet and I get caught up in the water. The Funny thing was, I was completely dry. I hold my breath for as long as I could as the wave was pulled back into the ocean. Just as the murky water started going black, a blue light appeared a couple feet in front of me. A pure blue Kia appears out of the light and says something in a language that wasn’t in Russian. I kind of understood him. He said to breath. Not really having any other options I inhale and find that I could breathe.
"What the?" I said confused. The other Kia just floats there looking at me as if he was painting a picture in his mind. Eventually he swims up to the surface and I follow. Scary thing was, I was about 2 miles from shore. How in the world could I have held my breath that long? Well, I find out soon enough. The other Kia looks at me fondly.
"Hello son." He says.
"I dont get it" I thought "My father got lost at sea years ago." Then Realization hit me like a brick. "You! You are the image I always see in my water glass! I thought I lost it! But wait, I know you’re my father, but how can you still be alive? And appear in water like this? And…and…" My father chuckles.
"One question at a time son.” He says kindly. “I am Poseidon. King of the sea. I wasn’t really ‘lost’ at sea. I merely returned to it."
"Oh." Was all I managed to get out. "Why didn’t you come back?" His merry and gleeful eyes turn hard as stone.
"Because it wouldn’t have been safe for you or your mother. The Kindly Ones would have found you faster and now…Well lets just say your time to be king is coming. Soon I will be to old to rule the seas any longer. I’ve been around for thousands of years OKeah and even gods get tired after awhile. I won’t be entirely gone, more like resting." He says sadly, "and then you will be King of the sea."
"But-" I begin.
"Don’t. I will be back. Take this." He says. My father unwraps a charm from his front left leg and ties it onto mine. "This will help you bend the ways of water and protect everything in it. A portion of my power rests inside it to be called upon by you. Use it well." He begins to fade away and churn more the color of the sea around us. "Remember, use it well and protect it with your life."
"Father no!" I shout, but it was to late. He had completely faded. It’s kind of hard to cry when your swimming underwater so I mostly snuffled. I had just found my father and now I had lost him. His words echoed in my head like cannons as I head back to the mainland. All of a sudden I knew there were others like me and all I had to do was find them.

About the drawing:
this kia drawn in a bottle because if you take a bottle fill it with water and glitter then shake it you will make a tornado so this kiamara is laying down on the water because that is his element(water)
