I have just gone through all the posts on the discussion thread for the day 7 growths, and no-one said anything about having a caterpillar change to a cocoon, so I think we can safely say that there is no day 7 cocoon.

Yes, there are currently two separate outcomes. They only look the same now, once they grow to adult stage they will look different from each other.
