i've never believed in censoring what others read, but things happen in that book that i would get banned for mentioning on chicken smoothie. some people's parents like to talk with them about what they're planning to read; i know i preferred it when i got a warning for some of the more mature content in these kinds of books.
^^ I do indeed agree with that thought. I personally have never talked about books with my parents because they both are illiterates. overall I feel that banning books is completely wrong. if you ban something for general access, you ban knowledge. even if that book may be horrible and full of lies (Mein Kampf for example), it is still a piece of knowledge which may let you understand the motives of this or that person. every book gives you knowledge, even the fluffy teenage romances do.
I don't read fluffy teenag romace, but they do give you knowledge ( sort of..). But dad won't let me read iain Banks books annoyingly, but I'm despret to read The Wasp Factory. But its adult so I can sort of see why.

No one's ever told me to not read a book because of content, but I kind of prefer it that way. My parents don't read much so they don't know about notoriously bad books like 50 Shades of Gray (not that I'd read something like that).
I agree with Glassea in the sense that books shouldn't be banned, because like Holly said it isn't really fair to prevent someone from learning.

Well, I don't believe in banning books, that's wrong, but there are some books that my parents don't want me to read (for example Harry Potter, and The Hunger Games), which I'm fine with. I'll probably read them when I'm older, but I have enough to read right now without those.
I'm on a semi-hiatus, but would be willing to come back
full time for a good RPG. I'll look at anything, but I prefer
animals, and I won't do Hunger Games/Divergent, anything
supernatural, or anything where the main point is romance.
I've done Warrior cats and Camp Half-Blood RPGs quite a
few times, including hosting my own on another site, but I
would prefer not to do either of those RPGs again. I might
instead be interested in a Hogwarts RPG, or maybe something
based in WW1 or WW2. I'm probably semi-literate, but please,
nothing below that. (And I like RPing male characters, if
you're in need of any.)
So, have an RPG suggestion? Or maybe a trade? Or just
wanna message me? Please, don't hesitate! (;

{ when i was ten, i read a book called battle royale. i thought it would be like the hunger games.
it was not.
so what i'm trying to say here - you cannot ban books, but there are some that you should read when older, like how a seven-year-old might get nightmares from a r-rated horror movie. but that shouldn't stop someone who can handle it from watching the movie later on.
catch my drift?

I think it's because of the witchcraft/wizardry/magic content.
And it's fine, I don't mind you asking. =)

I guess it just varies from person to person. at about six years of age I first read Hard-boiled Wonderland and the End of the World by Haruki Murakami. I understood what I was missing out on by reading novels meant for children, so I started reading only serious books. I admit, I didn't understand some things, like puns, word-plays and specific terms. but otherwise... I was so proud when in school everybody brought some coloring book or a simple childrens' book as their favorite, and I brought Hard-boiled Wonderland.

I loved hush, hush and the whole series- my friend is in love with Patch. The book thief -yes! I realised the only things I know how to say in german are 'blau' and 'gott in himnel." Loveee it ~♥
I got the host as a bday present from the person who introduced me to hush-hush. I cried at the end (though it was 1 am). Twilight I hated, but Stephanie has redeemed herself with this - it's so much more interesting and the characters more developed, believable and un-cliched
I was on the game a year or so ago, I have come back to you all though! I will have to make a new sig at some poin.
Current favorite books : The fault in our stars and the book thief
