I do not support the point system at all. It makes rarities even more complicated then they already are. It’s 100% possible to learn rarities if you are limited to only a few hours of time, you just have to want it. And if you don’t want to, then there is always people around you can ask. Inventing a point system will only make the people who don’t follow the rareslist hate it more, and the people who do follow it will probably only get more confused with gaps. At least i know i will get super confused if i have to learn a point system >.> after 3 years of learning everything the way it is now.

The point system only comes off as rarity math to me, and that’s something we should want to avoid.

I do see how making a point system would make things confusing for some people, but its not like it would be the sole way to use the rares list, and it would also make things much much easier for those users who are math-oriented and have a hard time understanding the rares list as it is now. I'm not math oriented at all, but I can still see this being really helpful for myself, I can only imagine it would be even more helpful for users who haven't been able to grasp the idea of the rares list yet.

Honestly, there are always gonna be haters, but I've been seeing people reach out for something like this for a long time. /: If we are going to create more haters by making a point system, we will make just as many if not more haters by not making a point system.

Though something that I personally am confused about, from what I've been reading there are apparently *exact* values for rares list pets. Like down to the very common or something. From what I was aware, in a very simple sense, the rares list was created by what people traded for which pets, and just put into order from more valuable to least. In which case, if pets values are gathered from trades, there would be no exact value for pets. I feel like we are making this point system more complicated than it needs to be, can the points not just be basic values for the pets? Just like we use shortcuts; 3 sorberts = non, even though 3 sorberts might not equal *exactly* a non, its still a widely used value and is fair.

For me, I look at the gap list Komi posted, and I see something that is easliy transferred into a point system, the gaps are already there, all that is needed is to decided on how much points equal and getting it down to number values. If there ae indeed *exact* values, then the gap list does not show them, and just shows approximate, though very close, values. So why can't a point system do this?

I am fully in favor of a point system... I do not see it as a 'rarity math' at all but as a valuing system that more people can understand.

I was one of the people that was led astray by the whole "the gap between advent pets is an early '09 rare" thing, told that by someone that was known for their knowledge of the list only to discover later that the gap could be an early '09 rare or an uncommon or whatever... but the people who are saying that will not share what gap is covered by what difference making it doubly hard to figure it all out. Take into consideration that some pets on the same tier have higher demand than their tier-mates and have a 'gap' to overcome as well and... well... you can see where the frustrations come in.

Let's say that Jan-April '09 pets are given a value of 2 point... May-August '09 1.5 points and Sept-Dec 1 point... etc.

We could then say that a bottom tier advent would be 4 points... or two early '09 rares and the gaps would be easy to see by the points between them... (if it was only a 0.5 difference then it would be considered a low demand mid to late '09 rare or a high demand UC, etc). This would make it much easier for many players to trade with some confidence and those who would say this is 'rarity math', please consider that when I see "3 nons = a " and "4 blue rose = b" I see rarity math as well... the only difference is that instead of a number it is a picture being used.

I see a problem the point system might posses.
the rares list was meant to be more of a guideline in pet values, there really aren't any exact values to pets. like even though pets may be on the same tier, the demand of the moment might be a bit higher.

@Noleah - i think adding a point system will only give me (and others) headaches xD I'm fine with you all making it, and i'm fine with checking it over once it's done (or helping when you get stuck), but i'd rather not break my back over something that i'm 100% not good at (Math ughhh).

@NickJr - those are what i use to explain to people that their goal is impossible when it comes to getting 09's. When is the last time a higher main's list actually went for a fair amount of 09's? I think Kevin just traded a blue toxic for like 15k pets, but hardly any of those were rare, mostly uncommon and then a wholeeee bunch of very commons and lower from 2011 and later.

The rest of those are little short-cuts that are known, or at least i thought they were known..

I think a point system will promote rarity math and i thought that that was frowned upon on Cs xD (the 2vr = 1 omgsr stuff)

@Charmens - that's somewhat what i meant. The rareslist is supposed to be a guide-line and i think points will make it too serious?


Maybe we should focus on the gap's list first? And once that is done, you guys can start on a point system? The gap's list i made is done, but komi decided to post it in sections so that we can discuss things. If we finish that and have it up and running, there will be lots of time to work on a point system that makes sense?

I apologize if I came off as a n00b, I'm not talking about the actual value of the new UR pets, I am fully aware of what the search function is and have used it multiple times, and am also fully aware of what the new UR pets are worth. I just thought that if there is talk about the list is being updated with different pets, it would also be nice if the new UR pets could be added on to the list. Because demand has died down quite a bit, if not entirely, and the URs already have honorary places on the lists. It would just be nice to see their pictures on the real lists.

I'm down to make a points list. I can help Noleah work on one that makes sense to me and her.

In the mean time I'll be working on the September/Advent break downs. Keep in mind this might take me a while [I work 8-5 and sometimes 8-9:30 so its a bit hard to find spare time XD] but I should have time on the weekends to get things done.

After that I know some people are looking for some short cuts up the list. I would appreciate anyone's shortcuts PMed to me. I obviously have my own as well, but solidifying some others would be good.

Also I haven't been able to fully keep up with the thread, so has anyone made any distinct changes to my gap list? If so please /PM/ me the info because I'm more liable to get it and keep it there than on the thread [where my memory is that of a goldfish after it's been fried by toddlers all day xD].

Yes, he is on the Rares list and he is extremely valuable too! He's a UR and pretty hard to come by too. GJ!
As for the Pink Balloon dog, on the Main list along with the Malk. And the Blue Rose is at the top of the September list. 3 pretty nice pets if you ask me. c;

On the TRT, someone said that the last fair tier swap for a BA was in 2011.

So does that mean that the Dark Leopard and the BA are not worth the same thing? I know that it is happening with the UR Tiger/Sunjewel, with one not really equaling the other. The BA's demand is crazy high- and the Dark Leopard seems to have none. Are they going to be moved?
