Guuuuys I wrote a poem today for the first time in pretty much ever, and it's not gut-wrenchingly horrible.
*is happy*
I tend to short lines that rhyme at the end (blurg), and I'm still clueless how to use a particular meter for an emotional effect, but hey, it's a poem and I don't usually write poems. So.
Any suggestions from you amazing poetry writers on how to use meter as less of a collection of boxes to put words into and more of a flowing set of ropes for the trapezee artist that is a properly written poem to dance about in? Meter and where to rhyme and how to end a poem on a nice neat note... and everything else. I'm really clueless, so if you've got any insights I'd love to hear them.
INSANELY BUSY!
I am moving! For the next month or so, I am going to be so very busy.
If I'm on here, it's because I'm unwinding with writing or pets or whatever.
Please do not add to my stress, if you can. Your support is appreciated.

username;; [ tangled.nonsense ]
nickname;; tangled, nonny or checky. or come up with something creative c;
writing preferences;; currently in the process of writing a book, and have been roleplaying for 2+ years now c:
example;; I'll give you one of my most recent one-on-one, where my character is an escaped prisoner, named Saora, who has, due to unknown circumstances, lost her memory, and my partner's is a Princess, named Shayna, who was against Princess-ness so she 'quit'. they kinda ran away together cx
it's set in medieval Ireland.
runaways and engagements wrote:Shayna's words comforted Saora slightly. After all, the Princess was known with these lands, she was experienced with the outskirts and the forests that were scattered all around Ireland. She was the one who was well-known with survival. She was the one with a past.
With a family. With memories. What would it be like, being a Princess? Wealth all around you, barely any poverty. Your own horse, chambermaids, teachers. A room of the size of a ballroom. Being the prettiest - maybe not because you were, but because people made you pretty. No, no, Shayna certainly wasn't an ugly girl. She was pretty, beautiful. Naturally. But even if she weren't, the hairdresser and the seamstress could make her beautiful. You'd be admired throughout the whole realm.
But, of course, there were always disadvantages. Strict rules you had to keep yourself to. Barely any free time - all of it was put into ceremonies and fitting dresses of all sorts. Oh, and the dresses themselves of course. The gallions of suitors that'd crowd at your doorstep, only to grab a single coin of your father's fortune. Growing up the way your parents want you to. And, of course, as Shayna mentioned, a greedy, dominant father that was only focused on money.
When she looked up from her thoughts, Shayna had already fallen asleep. The girl with the bright red hair, lying against her pitch black horse was such a peaceful picture that Saora wondered why she hadn't trusted the girl in first instance. She didn't look dangerous now, and her intentions were certainly pure.
For quite a long time, Saora sat there, wondering what would've happened to her if she wouldn't have been picked up by this extraordinary person. She would, more than just most probably, have not made it this far. She'd have been recaptured within a matter of seconds. Her old, white stallion would've collapsed not many miles from the gate and the bridge, and they would've found her trying to creep away from the horse.
It was already deep in the night when Saora's eyes finally closed and she drifted away in a calm, undisturbed sleep.
Someone's splashing water in my face. The girl blinked a few times, until she realized it wasn't a someone, it was a something. The clouds above her head were grey, and water dripped out of them repeatedly. Rain. Why was she in the open air? She had laid down in the "cave", right? She looked around, until the girl realized she'd been moving while she was asleep, and she'd rolled herself out of it. Her tunic was already halfly drenched, and, slightly panicking, she looked around for the book. Thank God it was still there. Slightly touched by the rain, but it didn't matter. Nothing of worth in it anyway. She'd keep it, though.
Silently, she moved back into the hole and saw that Shayna's horse had awoken as well. He looked at her with curious eyes, and she softly patted him on his croupe. "Good boy."
links to stories / roleplays;; currently none, I'll update later as soon as I've got my first chapters of my book up. they're currently stored on my computer, but I'll upload them on here later c;
other;; nope c:

Username: KING of ELI
Nickname: Usually King or Eli, but you can call me whatever.
Writing Preferences (Poet, Novelist, roleplayer...): Novelist and roleplayer.
Example (Can be anything; must be a good length): KING of ELI wrote:Prologue
It was only just barely two o' clock in the morning, and already the lights from the streetlights shone on the bloody asphalt. Here, not thirty minutes ago, the Koneko and the Sanura had fought their second bloody battle in the past two weeks. The smell was almost dizzying, and there were no pedestrians or cars making their way down the lonely street. Sitting on the sidewalk and overlooking the damage, Yuuka Kimura-Koneko hung her head and sighed heavily, her stringy black-tipped hair falling into her eyes. The Koneko had won this battle tonight, taking back this stretch of street from the Sanura when they had taken it two weeks ago in the first bloody skirmish, but to Yuuka they might as well have lost. Many of the members that had been involved in the fight were badly injured. The Sanura had lost one member; his body lie cold in the middle of the street, undisturbed. The Sanura had retreated too fast to recover the body of their dead brother. For a few moments, Yuuka sat in silence, her eyes closed and her head bowed, until she heard footsteps and someone settled beside her.
“Yuuka.” Her eyes opened suddenly, and her head whipped over towards the person who'd settled beside her. She reached subconsciously for her dagger, but relaxed when she realized that it was another member of her own gang, Hayate Miyamoto-Koneko. He held up one hand defensively when she reached for her dagger, but they both relaxed at the same time. Hayate's green eyes that were normally bright and energetic were dull and tired, and Yuuka knew full well the reason for it.
“How are they, Hayate?” Yuuka asked, and the older male shifted a bit.
“Hikaru should be fine within a few days, and Arata wasn't badly injured. Hideaki hid like he was supposed to, and luckily no one found him. Atsuko is still critical, and if she makes it through, she's certain to have some scars. What I'm worried about right now is keeping any infection out. Akosua isn't known for cleaning her weapons, and who knows what kind of diseases her other victims could have carried. We haven't lost anyone yet, though.” Yuuka was silent while Hayate spoke, but it wasn't long before her shoulders began to tremble.
“Akosua is getting much too strong,” Yuuka muttered under her breath. Hayate nodded in agreement, his eyes wandering down to the bloodied asphalt. “This is the second attack in a month. If this keeps up, there's no way we'll be able to continue to fight them. They'll take us over, and then...” Yuuka trailed off, knowing that Hayate's mind would follow. “I've been thinking, perhaps we should create an alliance with the Meaow? They are also a smaller gang like us, and I know that Akosua has been hungrily eying the southern part of their territory for a long time. And, old leader Preecha is ill, and has been ill for a long while. It won't be long until he dies, no matter what his people like to think. Lawan will have to take over after him, but she's nowhere near ready to be a leader. She'll need help.”
“Yuuka, no gangs have ever formed an alliance before,” Hayate said rapidly. “Are you sure that this is wise?”
“Too much Koneko blood has been spilled,” Yuuka growled lowly. “I'm tired of Akosua deciding to claim whatever she wants. It's about time that someone stood up to her.” Yuuka got to her feet and gave one last look to the bloodstained street, before stalking off towards the middle of Koneko territory.
“I guess I'll just have to trust her. After all, she's done the right thing so far,” Hayate sighed as he too forced himself up and followed after Yuuko, leaving the street the way they found it. Black, cold, bloodstained, and barren, save for one lone body lying in the middle of the street in the pale yellow light.
