Hawktalon flicked his tail. He killed a few mice before heading back to his clan.

Leaf purred. "Toms are like fish sometimes. Sometimes they jump into your claws, others just want to be left alone." She fiddled with her feather, then curled up to nap.

Hawktalon sighed and glanced up as Flamepelt raced up.to him.

Leaf fell into a dream. "Rainsky, run!" A dark colored cat yowled to a gray and white-patched cat. "But what about Leafkit? We can't leave her!" The she-cat yowled. A savage storm raged above the three cats as four other creatures streaked with mud snarled with contempt. "Yes, Rain, run. Leave kit here for us hungry coyotes." One creature barked. Another yipped, "We very hungry. We eat berries and apples every day but meat we need." The little kit coughed and the darker cat growled, "Rainsky, run now." Rainsky began running, and dropping the kit by accident. "Darkfur! Get Leafkit! I'll hold off the coyotes!" She meowed. Darkfur bolted to the little kit, but the biggest coyote leaped on him and stole the kit. "NO!" He yowled, and jumped on the coyote. The kit rolled through the mud, landing at the claws of another coyote. He ripped at her face, leaving four claw marks. The little kit screeched, and Darkfur ran to get the kit. Rainsky came to help, and they ran off together. Darkfur tripped, and two of the coyotes caught him. Rainsky shrieked, "Darkfur!" Darkfur managed to groan leave and Rainsky left with tears in her eyes.Leaf woke with a jolt. She started to cry. Why did this happen to me? Leaf thought sadly.

Hawkpelt stared at his brother. He snorted and twitched.
