Ash paw decided to interrupt. "Lark paw, stop it! We can play like kits if we want. We don't need your opinion on what we need to do." She felt a fluttering in her chest when Flamekit blocked her.

Brighteyes narrowed her vibrant blue gaze with concern. It was true, Larkpaw did know a lot about fighting, but she also had arrogant streaks. She only hoped that she wouldn't disobey the new cat, try to show him up, or even pretend to get something wrong just so that he would fail. "Wouldn't it be wiser to pick a younger cat..." She thought, absently speaking mind.

Flamekit hissed, his hackles raising. He wasn't usually an aggressive tom, but something about this cat made him want to claw her ears off. And you told me not to call you names! He thought angrily. At the sound of Ashpaw's mew, he began to calm down, and watched as Larkpaw was beckoned by some unknown cat. With a sigh, he spun around to meet Ashpaw. "Do you still want to play?" He asked, his tone somewhat full of exhaustion.

Rootclaw sighed once more. Sighing, that seemed to be all he was doing when he was talking to his niece. "Then, will you talk to me...?" He pressed, trying to get something out of her.

Yuccamask lead Cricketleap from the camp, and headed towards the river that they had washed in earlier that day.

Russetleap purred at the young kit's sudden appearance and liked the top of his head lovingly. "Not for many moons." She purred, continuing to walk forward. "You have to become an apprentice soon, and that wont happen for at least another two moons."

Lobeliakit scuttled around her mother's long, fluffy legs excitedly, and looked up at her big brother with a warm smile. "Yeah!" She squeaked, in her tiny kit voice, "You wont be a warrior before I am!"

Fireleaf sat silently near the middle of the camp. He never seemed to take Clan deaths well. It had been almost half a moon, and he still couldn't shake the hollow feeling inside of him. He hadn't been close to either his leader, nor medicine cat, though he just couldn't help it.

"Whatever, kits, I get to battle the new cat." Larkpaw said with a snicker. She took after her dead father, Firestorm.

Spottedkit shook her head. "No, nothing is wrong!" She meowed.

Wrenkit looked at his sister, pouncing on her playfully.

Firefly laied helplessly in the clans cave. She flicked her ears.

Cricketleap scented the air, he could smell fish swimming on the sun-down place and rabbits in the field behind them.

Flamekit rolled his eyes, and dug his tiny, thorn sharp claws into the soft dirt to stop himself from swiping the elder cat. Whatever. He wished to spit as a retort.

Rootclaw shook his head, "You say that, but I know it's not true." He closed his eyes, and took a deep breath. "You know you can tell me..."

"Hey!" Lobeliakit squeaked playfully in protest as she rolled out from under her mother with Wrenkit on top of her. "You big fluff ball! Get off of me!"

With a large sigh, Fireleaf hauled himself to his paws, and padded toward the fresh-kill pile, plucking a scrawny mouse from the top.

Yuccamask followed silently, not wanting to disturb him as he hunted.

Spottedkit shook her head.

Wrenkit laughed. "Never!"

"Fight me." The loner repeated.

Larkpaw nodded. She kicked dust like a storm, then sge ran aroubd him, bit his ear, pushing his back in with her paw.

Rootclaw sighed, getting to his paws. "Well," He mewed gently, "I have things that I should be doing... Maybe you should... go find someone to play with..?"

Lobeliakit rolled him over, nudging his fluffy pelt with her head. "Bully!" She squeaked playfully.

{ It's a shame that Rootclaw can't be her mentor, since they're kin, because they'd be a reeeaaally interesting pairing xD

His eyes flicked, registering the noise of the dust. His eyes watered as sand was kicked into them but he held back the urge to rub his eyes. Stormfeather's ears flicked, hearing the skidding of paws. He waited for a jump-like sound that meant she would lunge at him. When Larkpaw went to bite him the tom nimbly evaded the attack, his eyes still watering, making him blind. He had to rely on his sense of smell and hearing to attack. The thing that gave Stormfeather an advantage in battle was his long legs, which gave him better speed than most cats and the ability to jump high. That's why he was such a good hunter. But his scrawny figure made him weaker when attacked, which made him more cautious. He wondered what her next move would be, but thinking about being accepted distracted him for a second.

Larkpaw backflipped from the tom's back, moving zig-zagged and then using one of her back paws to hit his stomach. She was the best appretine at fighting.

Spottedkit nodded. "Ok." She meowed.

Wrenkit laughed. "No!"
