((That's been happening a lot lately... The noticing but not the NOTICING. By the way, I purposefully spelt Jem wrong in this.))
Emma."Especially you, little girl. Keep that mouth shut."
Emma's whole face burned tomato red and twisted into a snarl. She barely felt Oliver grab her collar and start dragging her away, muttering sorrys. She hardly saw the annoyed looks the clave was sending her. All she saw was this new girl telling her what to do. Telling
her what to do. Telling Emma Carstairs what to do. Emma glared at the girl, throwing all of her anger and fury into her looks as Oliver tugged her away, out of the Sanctuary and into a random bedroom. Emma hadn't memorized the path they'd taken to get to this room, so she had no way out now.
This fact hit her as Oliver slammed the door shut. "What the
hell was that Emma Carstairs!?!?" He yelled. Emma sulkily walked over to the bed and curled up on top of it. Tears started running out of her eyes, slowly at first and then more steadily. Oliver didn't move. "I
said, what the hell was that" Oliver asked, still in a particularly loud voice. Still, Emma lay there and cried. "Emma, what's in the notebook?" Oliver asked a little more gently. Emma flung the thing at him, her heart feeling too lonely to verbally reply. Oliver must have picked up the book as he started reading her notes on the front page. "Gem, James Carstairs, Tessa, Mortmain, parabatai, demon spirits... What does this all mean Emma?" Oliver asked her. Emma shook her head, unable to answer. "Do you know who James Carstairs is?" Oliver tried. Again, Emma shook her head. "Do you know any precious gems? Or parabatais?" Oliver asked. Again Emma shook her head. "I think.." Emma stopped, hearing how broken her voice was. She thought for a moment, then went on, "I think that Gem is a person. My father kept telling me to find Gem, find Gem. And he wasn't so insane to say something that might as well mean find chair, find chair" Emma tried for a laugh.
