"Thank...you..." The female quietly barked, then closed her eyes and went motionless. She was dead. And now there were five more orphans in Shadow Pack...

Mia and Akemi started crying as soon as their mother died. They were the more emotional of the litter, no matter how hard they tried to hold it in. (Sounds like they need to go toilet. xD )

Mars was stronger emotionally, but tears still managed to find their way down his cheeks. He was upset over his mother's death too, especially as he knew about his father as well... Who would look after them?

Chako whined, and gently carried the mother up the cliff to where Hakuri lay. She buried the couple side by side, but not before she let the pups say their goodbyes. "I'm sorry," she whispered.

Mars looked up at Chako, wiping the tears silently from his face. He tugged at her fur, whimpering. "Miss... Could you look after us please?" He made himself look as innocent as he possibly could. (Huge watery eyes included. Batteries sadly not.) "Please? My siblings and I would be forever in your debt."

"Your mother asked me, I said yes, and intend to keep my word," Chako replied.

Mars smiled, wagging his tail. "Oh thank you Miss!" He put his front paws on her foreleg, grinnign up at her. "Thank you ever so much."

"Your welcome. I already have some adopted pups, so the more, the merrier," Chako laughed. She knew that Mars would love to be a godfather, but she would ask Barti as well, he had been Shade's friend, and Shade was her friend. Barti was also Ink's uncle.

"You do? Where? I want to meet them!" He stood tall, well, as tall as he could, and grinned. He wasn't a large pup, but his confidence shone through.

"They're at home. Let's go," Chako barked, setting off at a swift pace. It was fast enough they could get home by nightfall, but not too quick that the pups couldn't keep up.
