I think the item guide is correct even though it is being redone because the last edit on the item guide was April 21, 2013. The post you are referring to is from 2012

Agreed. The cat is a rare and they're both from 2010, although the moon dog is an uncommon. ^^

the target dog is roughly worth 130-150 C$, combined with the peppermint eared dog and the C$ alone is 135C$ the fireworks dog is worth about 30 C$ so that would take it to 165 C$, you're overpaying by quite a lot
