Luna was still running, pumping her legs as fast as she could… until a sickening thud came from behind her. Her heart raced as she thought of the worst; her skin became moist and clammy. There was no way…
“Bumblebee!”
That voice… it sent shivers down her spine and made Luna want to die. Spinning on her heels, armour digging into the dirt, Luna saw her worst nightmare inches from the only reason she was still alive. Starscream loomed behind Bumblebee; the golden mech realized it seconds after Luna, looking over his shoulder at the hulking Decepticon. By now, Luna’s heartbeat was like a drum in her ears; she wanted to scream but no sound left her throat.
“Luna! Run!” Bumblebee commanded; how ironic that his voice was still intact while hers was not. Still, it seemed that Luna was suddenly paralyzed as she made no motion do anything but stare. There were only three words in her mind at that moment; three stark words that drowned any other thought she may have had.
He takes everything.
It was hard to know who Luna was really thinking off. Maybe it was Starscream; maybe it was God. One would think that this would settle some sort of resignation on Luna, but it didn’t. Finally, she stirred. Her blood rushed through her veins, and she breathed. She couldn’t let this happen. She’d swore--
A COMM link from Zoë surprised her. The words seemed to echo in her. I know you hate me, but please don’t let this happen. Don’t let this happen… don’t let this happen… Luna wasn’t going to. By no means would she…
‘Zoë, Luna said gently through her COMM, ‘Help is coming your way. Try to keep Skids controlled until then, okay? I promise no one will die today.’ She shut the link off then. Distractions wouldn’t help her now. Nothing would help her now.
“Starscream!” Luna shouted, trying to get his attention, “Do you really want to go after Bumblebee when I’m right here? Optimus Prime’s daughter… just think of the leverage that would give you, even among the other Decepticons. No one’s captured me before. Don’t you want to be the first?” Bumblebee glared at his charge, knowing what she was trying to do. Luna would rather sacrifice herself rather than lose him, see him in pain. The girl just looked to Bumblebee.
“Zoë needs help. Skids has went ballistic and attacked his brother. Go.”
“No!”
“As a Prime, I am commanding you to go to Zoë and help her!” He had no choice then. Moving out of Starscream’s path, the mech changed into his Z28 Camaro form and sped into the woods. Luna breathed a sigh of relief, then stiffened. The girl ground her teeth, clenched her fists. A lot of pain was coming Luna's way, and she knew it.
If she didn’t die today, she’d wish she was dead.
