Bonsai tree Teacup Dragon

Postby vindhov » Tue Apr 23, 2013 11:12 pm

Judging is over so sorry for the delay.

This Teacup Dragon makes its home in small Bonsai trees. Its scales help it to blend in completly with the colour shifting bark.It sticks out its tail to make it look like a part of the tree when hiding.

Based on this tree: http://gorkarriaga.files.wordpress.com/ ... bonsai.jpg

Congratulations to Paycho who is now the owner of this Teacup.

Gender:
Female
Personality:
Calm, cool, collected. And completely, utterly riddiculous.
On the outside she is silent and composed, the perfect guest. She doesn't speak unless spoken to, and refrains from making most noise.
On the inside, she's a big ball of crazy. She's sarcastic, poetic, artistic, and can't shut up if you get her to start talking.
She enjoys art, and all forms of creativity. When she lurks in bonsai trees, she likes to observe what happens around her, and see the results through. Occasionally, she whispers to the rooms occupants, and gives them ideas.

Short story starring this dragon:
I sat primly in my tree branches. I didn't move a muscle as I surveyed the room, taking in everything and showing nothing.
Someone had taken my tree home with them yesterday, and I was still interested in my new home. They put my little bonsai tree on a side table, in a small room cluttered with piles of paper. A glass box they called a computer sits to my right, humming and whirring. The room was called an Office.
The person most often in my new room was a woman. She had long auburn hair, and bright hazel eyes. Not that i Saw them very often, she spent most of her time at the computer, tapping on another box below it. She was an author, from what I could tell. She would lean back, and say her new chapters out loud to test the feel of the words.
She had writers block.

Her writing was good, she just couldn't move on. I was interested in the story from the first word I heard. Her character was stuck, about to jump off a building. Problem was, she couldn't figure out how to make the story end properly. The character can't just die, and they can't just walk away and ruin the whole plot. She was stuck. i leaned out over my branch, and whisper lowly, "add another person. Let’s have some dialogue, conflict."
The lady nods to herself, and starts typing. She makes more chapters, nearing the end of the book. I whisper to her all the while, coaxing her through the slow spots. One day she leans back, and stretches.
Looking at me.
I stay absolutely still. It's not still enough. She stands up, and looks right at me. Collecting myself, I ask her, "did I help?"
She trembles a little. "I think you did more than help. You just gave me a whole new book."
She smiles, and picks me up. I smile timidly.
"Now lets get to writing."

She strokes me along my spine as I perch on her shoulder, watching her work. her book was the story of a young girl who ran away, and found a dragon in the woods. It wasn’t a big dragon, but a tiny thing that showed the girl courage. In the end, the girl returned home, even though she had to leave her new best friend. I had helped the author through every word, polishing over the sentences.
The words were crisp and fluid, everything had a purpose. I made sure each phrase sang with the clarity of a summer day, and she made sure they had a sweet tang of reality, laced with excitement. It was as if I was in a dream, no one had ever cared for me, no one had ever written about me!
“you really like me?” I ask one day to her, after we had finished the last chapter. The book was done.
“how could I not?” she replied, staring at me with that look that told me was thinking like she was writing, gazing at everything and seeing it with sweet words, and poetic skill. She didn’t just see the green in my eyes, she saw the green of summer leaves, rich with light and life, showing honesty and openness, and the fact that I had never felt so at home than I had in this Office.

I press my tiny face against her cheek in appreciation, a rumble like a purr in my chest. I had never known happiness more powerful than that of a writer and their story, save the happiness I felt now, the happiness of a Writer and their Inspiration.

snarl on his face
Dragon's name: Hagi

Gender: Male

Personality: Hagi is very quite and reserved, hes not the overly boastful or loud, but, he can be dangerous, theres this air about him that sort of deters others, he has a love for trees and likes to spend his time around them, also and internment played around him catches his ear and draws him near, its actually a way to quite him and make him slightly more friendly.

Short story starring this dragon: Hagi rested in a tree overlooking a japannese styled garden, the peaceful surrounding were all so calming with the gentel splash now and then from the pond of koi. His head rested on his small clawed feet as he took in ever bit of the senory, Hagi had almost fallen asleep when he saw something small and dark dart towards the pond, without thinking Hagi lunged out of the tree and tackled all the while snarling fiercely, the thing turned out not be so little, and it was indeed a bird of prey, but, it wanted the koi and he wasn't going to let that happen, a snarl crossing his face Hagi growled at the bird and it scwaked at him, and tried to doge toward the pond but once again Hagi was in its way. it lased at him with its talon and dodged to bite its toes, the bird looked outraged and lunged to snatch him in its mouth, but once again using his superior speed and wits waked it on the nose and bit it hard, the bird then looked confused and pained before fleeing. He didn't leave the spot he was standing in before the bird was long gone, then steeled down on a rock to study the koi he had just saved, and decided it was worth it, they were just little beauty's of nature, deffencless and worth saving.

Dragon's name:
Mana
This names is the Japanese name for love and affection.

Gender:
Female

Personality:
Mana is mellow in nature, not one that is quick to anger but rather slow to anger because she is such a peaceful beast. In order to anger her you must do a lot of pestering. In a way, she is a lot like a sloth as she doesn't have very many cares and is quite passive in nature. A noble dragon, she is one who is graceful and treats all fairly even if she is perhaps slightly better to them in their eyes. Never would she consider herself one step above another. Her grace is something all can see as she moves about in the most fluid, feathery manner amongst the flora around. Wise with the knowledge of the ages allow her to be intuitive and give answers to those who strive and search for the answer to their questions. Nothing that she does is ever unintended, she means everything she does and is knowledgeable about any and all outcomes and repercussions. Never one to flounder about uselessly, she is often serene and moving about carefully, wisely avoiding dangers and other things that are negative in any way.

Short story starring this dragon (700 words maximum):
The sun crested the hills, the rays casting many shades and hues amongst the land. The warmth signaled a new day, one that Mana was ready to embrace as she sat daintily in a tree to watch the sun rise into the sky as it did endlessly day after day. A loud cry startled her as she looked around, the shrill cry echoing out again, this time far closer to her. Her green eyes scanned the sky, darting wildly from side to side as she tried to find the source of this cry. Then she found it, the sight that she hadn't at all expected this fine, beautiful morning.

A hawk.

It was a predator she had heard many tales about from the elders but hadn’t ever seen before. Her instincts told her to flee and that was what she did, scaling up the tree she had been peacefully resting in and looking for the nearest hole, resident inside or not. Her eyes had a wildly fearful gleam in them and she knew she had to hide before the hawk set its eyes upon her.
Yet she was too late.

The cry was now a lot louder, closer, more intent. She had been spotted. Hurriedly she climbed before she found a hole, flinging herself into it just as she heard the hawk. Large claw-like talons raked the bark as it hit right where she had ben, pushing herself into the hole before she climbed out and moved up the tree, blending in with her camouflage abilities. The hawk went after the hole again and again before she gave up and left, Mana heaving a massive sigh of relief.

Carefully she scaled back down the tree and back to her limb, watching the sun but on high alert as she didn’t want to be snuck up on because that would be horrible. Finding herself in the serenity, she eased back into her serene mindset and ways as she comfortably relaxed on the branch. Was she frightened? She had been, but she had gained experience and knew what to do now.

Dragon's name:
Xavier

Gender:
Male

Personality:
Xavier is very curious about everything. Though he is quieter than a mouse, he often goes on some big adventures. He isn't afraid to leave his tree. Though, he is very skiddish and can be easily scared. Xavier would rather spend his time exploring than trying to seek friends. He does often run into Sweet Briar when he's out from his tree, looking around. He visits the lush rose bush that grows at the bottom of his tree, where Sweet Briar lives.

Short story starring this dragon: (700 words maximum)
Xavier has always been a curious Teacup dragon.
As a young dragon, he was often teased for not having a pair of wings. He couldn't fly like the rest of the dragons he met. All except the young Sweet Briar. Sweet was the dragon that made Xavier realize how much fun he could have even if he couldn't fly. He was able to get into places most dragons couldn't, because he didn't have wings that would get stuck in small places. He was much more smaller and fit than most of the winged dragons.

As a teen, Xavier was asked to find things that the winged dragons had lost. Eventually, Xavier figured out that most of the dragons were losing their items on purpose and losing them in some of the most obnoxious places. The crevices with a bunch of sticky sap was the most popular places to "lose" things. Eventually, he just stopped looking all together, and hid in the tree where he couldn't be found, even by Sweet Briar, his best friend. He heard a lot of angry voices during the passing days about lost items.
