i honestly doubt wolves will become extinct
some sub-species could run the risk of going extinct, but i honestly doubt the majority of them

The reason thylacines and such went extinct is because for one, people weren't as educated on species conservation back then, and two, just didn't care as much. I highly doubt as well that wolves will ever go extinct like the thylacines did, especially with so much wolf reserves and funds when they aren't even endangered...

OK, maybe I shouldn't say anything, but I've seen people post that gray wolves aren't endangered so many times, I think it's just finally gotten to me. Yes, as many people have said, there are many places, such as Alaska and Canada, where gray wolves are not endangered. I understand that, but remember:

They ARE endangered in some places, specifically most of the US, where they used to exist in plentiful numbers. Many, if not MOST areas in the US DO need to help save the gray wolf, because there, it IS endangered.

And honestly, I've heard, "Gray wolves are overrated and they're not even endangered. There's nothing wrong with hunting them, it's not poaching. All anyone ever talks about is gray wolves, which don't need saving, etc, etc," so much that it seems to be (much) more common than any wolfaboos. In some areas, they DO need saving. Just because we love ALL wolves doesn't mean we're saying we just want to help grays.

Sorry for this huge rant, but I'm kind of getting sick of this. I think we get it by now.

I thought this thread was for coming together and discussing the love of wolves...?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe this is a debate thread.
Healthy, informative discussions are good, but it seems that you all are getting into silly arguments.
People will have different opinions from you and you don't need to correct someone every time they have separate thoughts. I know it's human instinct to want to be right, but there isn't really a "right" answer.
Sure, their are more practical and scientific answers, but no right ones.
That is all.

Yes, we can debate civally. The main purpose of this thread might have been to discuss the saving of wolves, but we have debated, and will continue to debate about hunting and wolves in general; the mods of this thread have participated as well. You just can't have a thread like this and expect otherwise...

And no one is trying to be "right", unless its in the case where someone is stating a so called fact, when in truth it's untrue... Saying something like mother wolves are being killed, or that wolves in general are endangered isn't an opinion, but an untrue "fact". There's a difference, and something like that is meant to be corrected or debated.

Okay, yes, there have been civil debates on this thread.
Most of them are very polite.
Don't try to tell me, though, that there has not been a group of people ganging up on a specific person. I know that it doesn't seem like it to you all, but it definitely seems like that to me. I'm not naming names or giving dates - I've seen it happen multiple times.
By "ganging up" I don't mean freaking out and telling them that they're absolutely, totally wrong, but when the entire thread is against one person and repeat the exact same thing over and over...I consider that "ganging up" on someone. I'm not saying it's done rudely, but if one person has already said something, why can't everyone else just let it go?
I never said that I expected to see no debates on this thread, I'm just saying that we're hardly even talking about saving wolves anymore. It's all just about hunting, which is part of saving wolves, but not the main focus the thread was supposed to be on.
All I'm trying to say is this thread isn't what it used to be.
It's all debates and arguments now.

You can't help it if more people are on one side of an argument and not the other... I don't see it as ganging up, personally. If people are going to debate they're going to debate.. Whether the sides are equal or not... Its just that if it is a controversial subject, you're going to have to be prepared to defend your standpoint and potentionally be in the minority... I've been argued against, and I'm happy to explain my opinion, be open minded and debate civilly even if I'm the only one with that said opinion... Sometimes those kinds of debates are best because they can get you to think rationally and open mindedly, and potentionally change your opinion, y'know?

but debating is so fun and amazing

anyways, if the OP or a mod isnt satisfied with the debating im sure they can just add it to the front page.

we USED to have a friggin wolf hunting debate thread but it got locked after a couple of peope loosing their crap over on how hunters are sociopathic murderers and their poor ded wuffies. The mod locked it and said to not remake it. if you cant have a topic on wolf hunting, i have NO IDEA why we can discuss it here, but apparently we can.

honestly i dont know why this thread is still open. i cant count the times where people have been like "i should just shoot you and your family how would that feel" "hunting is murder, you monsters" "wuffies have feelings!! omg" "hunters are psychopathic MURDERERS who have no feeling or understanding of another animals feelings" etc but this thread is still up and running for a reason i cant even make up?

I understand this. I'm just saying that debating shouldn't be the main focus on this thread.
I agree with Onew as well. If a hunting thread wasn't allowed, why is debating hunting allowed on this one...?
I don't know.
I didn't come her to stir up a ruckus.
So I'll skedaddle now.

Personally, I don't like wolves. I mean, they are okay, but they ARE Overpopulated in some areas. Here in Canada, we only hunt during hunting season, when pups are maturing and know how to hunt. Hunting and poaching are two VERY different things.
Hunting: Killing an animal quickly, using the animal or selling it.
Poaching: Killing things illegal to hunt, killing the animal slowly and putting it in pain, trapping an animal and waiting for it to starve to death, ect.
I don't care if people hunt wolves in overpopulate/stable areas. In an area where they are indangered or illegal, its a different story. I don't like how ever since the wolf was indangered , millions of people still threaten to shoot a hunter if they shoot a wolf when population is stable .-.
