For All the Wrong Reasons (a dark humor fantasy, accepting)

[Korra's Left Foot]

Before she could get far, someone riding a bicycle blocked Misty's path. He appeared angered, and sounded as such through his question. "Er, come again?" She wondered, obviously confused. It took a second, but it clicked soon enough. His scent rolled along with the realization. Oh. He had brought with him the unmistakable smell of another of their kind.

"Ah, I just got into town," Misty explained, "I wasn't aware that this place was occupied." Her eyes nervously shifted from his then back again. Then again, she hadn't made any effort before hand to check it out either. Though it wasn't every day that you make a stop through claimed territory.

Achen blinked bewilderedly at the vampire. "What do you mean you weren't aware-- are you saying you just stumbled into town by chance?!" Without giving her time to answer, he continued, "Eck, whatever, get on," gesturing toward the back of his motorcycle. Though letting someone who'd taken a bite out a passerby as soon as she arrived stay around was probably a bad idea, at the moment, Achen's main goal was to just get all of the new liabilities he was finding into one place. Figuring out how to prevent that place from exploding in a mass of chaos and doom would come later.

He couldn't help but notice the further they got into town the more looks they seemed to be getting, and was glad that his clothing covered the two swords at his waist. Their was no telling how people would react if they saw those and he did not want to make a scene. It took Sammy a bit to notice the looks that he was getting, and once she noticed that they were directed at him, and not at her she seemed to make up her mind about something and change their direction slightly. "How about this?" She asked as she stopped outside a casual diner. He nodded and opened the door, taking note of the name on the sign. "Please, after you," Ambrose spoke, holding the door open for Sammy and gesturing her through.

Slightly amused to have someone holding a door open for her in such a formal manner (this guy must be at least a century old! She was hanging out with a legit supernatural being, not just one of her mutt cousins!) she headed into the diner. Inside, the restaurant seemed to have some of the faux-fifties look that stuck around such places constantly. A waitress carrying some dirty plates looked over her shoulder and told them to sit wherever they'd like. Intent on all the people-watching she could get, (even if it meant being a bit more overt) Sammy made a beeline for a table by one of the large windows.

The rice was soon cooked and Kyoki took this chance to escape the cat's advances on his neck. Standing up, he went off to take the rice and the thawed fish, placing them on the table. With a few swipes of his nails, the fish was sliced into sushi slices and was ready to be prepared. Smiling at his skill, Kyoki began to wrap up the raw fish slices with rice and seaweed. Yawning in boredom as he finished, Kyoki walked off to get a plate and placed the now ready sushi on it. Using his hands, he delicately plucked up a piece and began eating it, much like a noble would.

Nigrum, on the other hand, somehow used its tail as a 'hand' to pick up the food. They both munched on their snacks happily, differences put aside for a moment. Not long after, Kyoki and Nigrum finished the sushi and decided to wander off. After waving a teary goodbye to Nigrum, who had disappeared somewhere after a nice meal, Kyoki scratched his bandaged neck, wondering on what to do next. If he could, maybe he could try getting out of this dusty place? Well, it would be worth a shot...

There was no missing the amusement on Sammy's face as she walked past him into the building. He, however, knew that he could not over come all of the centuries of manners that he had used even if it wasn't done anymore. He would feel wrong without doing them, they were just as much a part of him as his swords or his flute. It didn't take long for them to get noticed once they were inside, and it took even less time for Sammy to pick a place to sit. He wasn't the fondest of sitting in front of window but it would make escaping easier if they had to do that. He derailed his train of thought before it dragged him away. It was good to be observent, but worrying about things you had no control over, nor that you could change, was pointless.
It didn't take long before a waitress came over to them smiling and handed them menus, listing off the special that they had for the day and then asking what they would like to drink. "Water please," he responded, flipping open the menu and beginning to read through their selections. It didn't take him long before he knew what it was that he was going to order and he closed the menu and sipped at his water. He wanted to talk to Sammy more and see if she knew anything about the message that had been sent out, and what he could tell him about the town. Even a few days worth of information would mean that he had something to go on.
"If you don't mind my asking," Ambrose started so that Sammy would know that she did not have to answer anything that she didn't want to, "What brought you to this town?"

Sammy glanced over the menu, considering Ambrose' question. It would sound too childish to say "to meet a nice werewolf" and way too cliché to say "to restore my family to its rightful place among the Packs of the West," so she settled on "I heard that a lot of folks would be coming to this place. I figured it would be a great opportunity to sorta reconnect and see a bit of the world." Laughing a bit, she added, "Didn't expect the world to be such a small place. But there has to be something important about it for someone to intentionally call every unnatural thing here. What about you? You come out of a castle somewhere to join this freak show?"

Moira didn't particularly like being out this late at night. The good news was that her destination was only a block away. The bad news was that it was a previously-abandoned hotel, and she wasn't quite sure who or what had taken up residence there. Living and working just down the street from a definitely haunted place like that had always been a bit worrying, so Moira had decided long ago to do the only sensible thing: recruit familiars to keep a lookout. Even though a lot of the animals she liked to use wound up dead the next morning, she'd gotten definite chirps that lights were on and it wasn't humans who were home. And she had no interest in letting whatever was going on happen without her.
Moira walked over to the boarded-up entrance of the hotel and stared up at it. The main doors and the wide granite steps leading up to them clearly hadn't been used in quite a while. She walked to the side of the steps and knelt down to remove a piece of plywood which she'd loosened when sending in her first scouts. Behind it was a small window, leading into one of the lower floors of the building. Moira checked her flashlight, tightened the strap of the messenger bag over her shoulder, and slid herself down into the hotel's cellar, landing with a thump and a cloud of dust.
