Althea looked up from his shoulder, her eyes brimming with tears. "Yes. But please, if you can, do not harm him in a gruesome way. He may deserve the most horrible of deaths for what he did, but we should not stoop down to their level." she turned to the messenger, wiping the tears with the back of her wing.
"It was Caedis indeed." he said almost apologetically. "My deepest sympathies, your highness." with that, he bowed and flew off into the fray, scrolls and messages tucked safely in his mouse skin botkin. She looked down at the sea, horrified to see the image of several Guardian corpses sinking slowly to the bottom of the deep blue waters. The salt water washing the blood from their feathers, cleaning them before they rested forever in peace.
"Goodbye Alistair." she whispered, a single last bitter tear falling from her feathers to mingle with the water below.
