Damon smirked slightly and handed him back the lavender colored rose. "I think I feel the same, but-but I'm not what's best for you, and I know it. I'm no good for anyone..." he said in a sigh meeting Charlies blue eyes gaze with his own.

Charlie shakes his head, "You're good enough for me. I've only ever had one friend in my entire life, and that is you. You reached out to me, something no one else in 17-18 ish years has ever done for me. We can just be friends if that's what you want, but I'm here for you if you need me." he looks at the green house and the dark sky beyond it.

Damon looked down at the ground for a moment as he thought," thats the thing... I dont want to be just friends... I just. I don't want to hurt you in the event things go wrong. I dont want to disappoint you in anyway. You deserve so much more than what you think." He explained the best he could.

Charlie looks at him at a loss for words. "And so do you," he chuckles slightly. "You deserve more than a beaten boy with a date with death if his father ever finds him. A boy who longs for something out of his reach. I surround myself with beautiful flowers knowing in winter they'll wither away no matter how I try to make them live. But they keep coming back, never relenting in the search for sunlight. Yet it is just out of their reach like a steady love is out of mine."

Damon felt his eyes tearing up as he listened to Charlie explain himself. He walked closer to Charlie and wrapped him in a warm hug. Resting his head in the crook of Charlie's neck, Damon sighed," Charlie..." Was all he could manage completely speechless.

Damon nodded slightly, hugging Charlie just a bit tighter as he let out a deep breath slowly. "Can you dance?" He asked while he let go of the boy.
