And while her demeanor is rather snooty and stuck-up, she partially acts this way so that people won't leave her alone all by herself. It took her years to figure out how to deal with the fear, as when she was little and left alone to sleep, she would get so scared. Annalise would simply die if someone found out about her fear, as she's afraid they'll think less of her because of it.
