Upon hearing his own name, called out by his new comrade, his concentration on the doe broke. His grip broke along with his concentration. The elderly creature, called out to her herd, but the deer didn't pause to wait, they were fleeing for their lives as the fire tore through the forest, leaving things charred and smokey. "Lawliet!" he responded, running back to the large brute. "We need to find Luke!" he called out, coughing from the smoke. Yellow orbs wide in fear for his friend, he scanned in the smoke and flames, where Luke should have been. Closing his eyes tightly, he was faced with a choice. Find Luke and risk leading both himself and Lawliet into a deathtrap, or hope that his buddy could make it out alive and they could attempt to reunite after the fire. The second option involved leaving his friend who might need help. Biting his lip, he fell into beta mode. In his old pack, he was an effective leader, able to make decisions and carry them out. He had to put his personal feelings aside and for now, do what was best for the group overall. Tears formed in his eyes, partly from the smoke, and partly with what he was deciding to do. Striding up to a coughing Lawliet, he snorted out some of the smoke he had inhaled. "Let's get away from the fire and smoke." And he began off in the direction away from the smoke and flames, eyes watering and coughing from the unpleasant burning in his lungs. He made sure to keep his yellow eyes on the pale wolf to make sure he didn't fall behind.
Lawliet
Lawliet nodded in silence, his mood reflected only within his large blue eyes, and limped after his friend. The adult stag that had struck his hind paw had sliced through the skin, albeit not deeply. Regardless, the pain was intense, even for a wolf of his stature. He merely gritted his stained fangs and carried on, the burning trees around him almost invisible as he vainly tried to calm himself down, as his seemingly calm outer image was fading. His eyes had widened dramatically, and he was beginning to breath in fast, shallow gulps for air. Smoke burned his through, and he found his eyes watering, though the large brute wasn't sure whether it was due to his pure fear or perhaps the smoke, he could blame either.
"W-what about Luke?" He spluttered in a panic, finally realizing that the brute was not with them, not that he could seem much at all through the smoke.
