Would anyone like to do a pony 1x1? ^^ It can be OC or cannon; PM me to reduce spam and see the requirements. c: (It's mostly that I'd prefer if you were semi-literate and supported the same ships and orientations as me.) We could also do a group invite-only rp c:

So i have a predicament: my mother doesn't know that i am a brony, and i'm afraid she'll judge me quiet bad if i go out and buy a blind bag or two (maybe a brushable). I cannot drive yet and i really want to try painting/making a custom pony. What do you guys suggest you do?

Well, I was truthful with my mother and father. They absolutely hated it, but eventually, she got over it. Now whenever I talk about it, she says she zoned out. Possibly you can tell her that you like MLP a little, and slowly ease it onto her.
Hey there, I'm Vintage, but you can call me Vin if you prefer to do so.

normally i don't care what my mother/father (or what anybody, really) thinks of me, but normally people see me the creepy kid who loves the color black and hard metal/rock music. Many people see MLP as a childrens show. I guess i can be blunt, but i'm going to be embarassed to do so. Thank you for the advice.

My parents didn't know I was a brony until they found the MLP:FiM episodes on our DVR, as I'd forgotten to delete them. My parents had a cow, and made fun of me for a bit, and they still sometimes josh me about it. But they understand that I like it, even if they still think it's stupid. Neither of them will EVER listen to me whenever I try to tell them really cool stuff about the show; but I completely understand that it's not their thing. My mom tried watching bits and parts of episodes, but really doesn't like the series. I respect her opinion, and will never try to force the show on her. My dad isn't even willing to try the show, and he probably never will. While I'm sad about that, I have to accept that it's just the way he is.

When I told my parents that it hurt my feelings when they made fun of me just for liking one of the cleanest shows on the television networks today, they didn't really back off at first. For MONTHS after they first found out I liked it, they told me I couldn't buy any pony merchandise. Took them about a year to realize that I was serious in the fact that I loved the show. When I bought my first piece of pony merchandise - a brushable Fluttershy - my mom just kept giving me weird looks and saying how I was "clinging on to my childhood with all four appendages", and other negative stuff. (At the time, she hadn't exactly said I couldn't buy it. She just said it was "up to me" to decide if I "really wanted to spend my money on it", and she pretty much tried to talk me out of it.) The more I bought pony merchandise, however, the more used to it my mother became. She still doesn't LIKE that I spend money on ponies, but she doesn't try to talk me out of it so much anymore. I don't know how my father feels about my buying ponies....but I get the feeling that he doesn't like it either. X) My parents now allow me to buy whatever I like, but they DO say stuff like, "In a couple years you're going to wish you saved your money so that you could buy something better..." They do still sometimes make jabs at me about liking it, and my father will NEVER understand what I see and love in the show. My mother doesn't see what I like about the show either, but she doesn't josh me so much. X)

My parents don't necessarily approve of my liking it, but they still let me buy the merchandise and watch the show....and listen to the music. X) It took them a long time, but they finally have accepted that I'm a brony. They may not like that fact, but at least they accept it. X)

My parents found out on their own; I didn't tell them. What I would suggest to you is simply tell them that you like it in a nice, calm way. Don't be all like, "OH MY GOSH THERE'S THIS COOL SHOW COME WATCH IT WITH ME!" Simply say you like the show in a respectful and civilized manner. :) If your parents don't understand why you like the show, why not point out some reasons that you DO like it, and why it's a good show to watch? My list of reasons is VERY long, but I can give you a few of mine.
1. It's a very clean show. No suggestive elements, no cursing, no violence, etc.
2. There's a great lesson about friendship in nearly every episode.
3. It makes me laugh - there are so many points where I laugh during the episodes, and I think watching them has made me a happier person.
4. The voice acting and animation is amazing.
5. The songs are REALLY great!

If they still don't respond well ("it's a show for KIDS!") - like mine did - respectfully point out that there are MANY people who are older than you - or around your own age - that like it. If they need proof, look up the information on the internet and show them. My mom didn't even bother to read an essay-like thing I typed up about adult bronies - male and female - and why the show wasn't just for 7 to 12 year old girls...but she DID read some of it. My mom still thinks it's creepy that there are adult males out there that like a show for "little girls". That's her opinion, and I respect it - though I DO NOT agree with it.

If you have the right attitude - "I may not like what my parents have to say, but I have to respect their opinions/I may not agree with my parents, but I still have to respect them" - then I think you'll do fine. :) And who knows? Perhaps your parents will end up liking it too!

My mom happily bought me merchandise, and didn't mind the fact of me watching the show, though occasionally tossed a joke at it here and there. I invited her to watch it with me, and I plain-out told her. "I'm interested in this new show called My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Have you heard of the older generations?" She commented on how I had g1, g2, g3, etc ponies downstairs in the toy room from when I was a child with the magnetic hooves, and she became interested. She really doesn't mind, since there's absolutely nothing wrong with liking such an amazing show.

My parents didn't care. It's nothing new that I like stuff that is meant for kids. After all, I think liking MLP is less weird than learning that your daughter is making a mermaid tail to swim in. XD

No offense people, but does it really matter if you parents know you're a brony? It's just a TV show. It's not like you're coming out as gay or whatever.
