After I got a little drink, my legs collapsed from underneath me. I closed my eyes, knowing this might be the end. I was to week to save my family, and now I am to week to even stand up.
I used the last bit of strength I had to howl "good bye mom, I'm so sorry for what happened." I laid my head back down on my paws. The creak water ran over my muzzle, I held my breath, knowing that if I didn't I would drowned. It was such a pitiful site, the water was half over me, my coat was coated with mud, and you could see all of my ribs.

She sniffed around seeing the small pup. At first she thought it was a clump of mud, when she got closer she could tell it wasn't. She licked the pup dry and clean. Then lay her on her warm back and covered her in a dry deer skin.
