"Oh, okay, I'm glad you're not hurt." Forest twitched his ear and another leaf gently drifted to the ground. The collision didn't seem to have injured either of them, thankfully. At least they hadn't passed each other by-this WME sounded like he had been by himself for a long time. His excitement at seeing another Equid made Forest wonder why he had been on his own. Did he get kicked out, or simply decide to leave? What if he was some sort of bandit or escaped human's pet? Why was he on his own? Most Equids preferred not to travel alone, if it could be avoided. I won't tell him about the band I saw, yet the colt decided. Better to wait and see what he wants or if he reveals more about himself. "Yeah, I haven't got anybody to travel with either" Forest agreed, then added, "I just left my band a few days ago, but now I'm looking for water." Maybe Charlie had recently been to a water hole and could direct him there. Or, even better, they could go together. Safety in numbers was always a good rule to go by. And, with Charlie's tough looks, other stallions probably wouldn't bother them. It must have been nice to look so fearsome and battle-ready. All the mares probably followed an Equid like that around for days. Forest wondered if Charlie had any mares, or if he was just scouting ahead for them. "I'm really fine," he said, and smiled at the pinto's compliment. He had always assumed mares preferred a more flashy coat. "You look so fierce with the red and yellow on yours," he started, unsure about what to say. Equids didn't usually compliment him on his coat. "I wish I could stand out more... Hey, would you like to look for a watering hole with me? I haven't had a drink since last evening, and I'm super thirsty. Plus," he added, squinting across the valley in the direction of the sunrise, "the sun's coming up and it looks like it's going to warm up a little today."
