"The" Rares List Guide - Do not ask about new UR's!

D: I totally understand if real life is still getting in the way (because it has a tendency to kick online life to the curb), but that doesn't mean that I'm itching to see a break-down of this intimidating thing soon xD;

to get things straight (and I know it's going to cause a lot of confusion for a lot) what does cover the gap when trading Advents? If we've been adding an x amount of '09's just to get to the next tier...we're doing something very wrong. o.O

Some gaps are 09 rares, some gaps are 09 uncommons. The grey border collie line is worth about 7-8 09 rares. I've seen people say 9-10, i have no idea where they got that from.

Then why did Solloby say that it's not an '09 to get to a tier? I thought it was as did a lot of others. Now I'm confused.

A high + low september = low main's list. Or 3 blue roses = balloon dog.

I thought I'd comment on this since it is something I have done before. I was told at one point 'it takes a '09 rare to move up a tier' but no one ever mentioned what each tier was, so without further information I assumed that every line was a tier, and so thought a border collie would be worth 10 '09 rares until I was informed otherwise. I can easliy wee how someone would come to that conclusion, many are only handed bits and pieces of information about the rares list without it getting explained fully and now they are giving out bad advice because of that. I know a gap list is getting worked on, but until it is finished you can't really expect people to really know what is right or wrong because all we can do is try to glean what information we can from what has been said by those who know what they are doing. Even if you had just the gap list done for advents I think that would bring a vast improvement on the fair trade thread and keep a lot of people from giving wrong advice.

*shrugs* A lot of us just want to be able to understand the rares list and know it, but its really hard to find any accurate information on it. Sometimes I'll be giving advice on the FTT and a rarity expert gets on and tells me I'm doing it wrong and all I can think is 'I got that information from a rarity expert!' Its really hard to tell what is right and wrong with this kind of thing for those of us who want to learn it.

Aren't "09 rares" now kind of a vague currency anyways since almost all of them are rare now instead of just the ones from before June?
Things like Shima longtail aside, These two have nowhere near the same value.

Whenever I see "09 rares" (like "7-8 09 rares"), I always assume it means one of these two things:
- all from mid 09
- an even-ish mix from all parts of the year

So I usually would say things like "the gray border collie is worth about 7 mixed/mid 09 rares".

This is true. A mid-advent(Grey border line) is worth 7 mixed 09 rares. Or 3 early 09 rares (So jan/feb, the ones that are slowly going vr.). I usually tell this to everybody who asks me...

@noleah. I would love to post the gaps list as how i know them, but komi has asked me not to.. She wants to look over it and sadly doesn't have the time to do so, so there isn't much we can do until she does want to post it. I understand that the mid-advents aren't exactly in the middle of the list anymore, but they used to be..and that's why we refer to them as mid-advents. I tend to say "Mid-advent like the grey border" when people pm me for advice, but not everybody does that.
