Especially you two, Windi and Acidic. If you want to continue arguing, take it to PM please.
I agree, I wish this was posted in the first thread, people were incredibly rude.

I agree completely. Some people decided to take their anger out on me when I told them to calm down about the horses. xD Most tend to agree with the fact that we don't need to get all worked up over a lineart and act as if the Zombie Apocolypse is about to happen and we'll all die a firey death of doom, just because a lineart has been changed.
They don't like the new lineart? Good for them, just don't insult the artists who are working very hard to get all these changes done. That's what irritates me the most. I'm an artist as well, so insulting another artist is like a crime in our community.
EDIT:: Sense I've already gotten a PM on this, no I am not a CS artist. I'm just a regular Artist in general, lol. You don't have to be a CS Artist to be an Artist. xD

I'm not arguing, I'm being told how I'm talking by someone who doesn't even know me! I'm not saying my word is better than anyone else's or anything along those lines... Now I am getting defensive because I'm being told what and how I'm typing by someone else when none of it is true!
I'm not saying I don't appreciate what the artists have done because I do, I'm just not a huge fan of the linearts being changed. It's not Yulynh's linearts either before someone jumps down my throat about insulting the artist herself. I'm not. I'm saying that I liked having the different linearts from over the years. Yes Equimagine stole the linearts but why suddenly after 5 years of CS are they being changed? No-one has answered why it's taken so long and then suddenly it's done within a few weeks! I'm not having a go at anybody, I have questions - I'm going to ask them. I have an opinion - I'm going to voice it.

Nobody knows when the staff found out they were stolen, hence why it's taken them so long to figure it out, most likely.

Technically the staff has known for a long time about the problem. However, knowing about it and having the resources/means/a plan to fix the problem at the time of discovery are completely different things. The site was still fairly young when the discovery was made, now that the site is older and there are more staff, new lines, a plan in place, etc it is within their means to amend the issue. Hence, the problem is now being resolved.

Whoa, Whoa, Whoa! Yes they did... They found out the first lines were stolen and instead of sorting it out there and then and saying "Look, you may have made a mistake but we can't trust you and will need to find a new horse artist" they let her make a second set of lines which people say are still stolen(though Tess herself doesn't seem to think so, apparently they've only been changed because people didn't like the horses so much) and so they let that go on for 3 years(I joined in '10, just after the change) before finally saying "You know what, we need to sort this out now"... So yes, they had an idea and it's their own fault for letting her carry on drawing new lines as to why this has become such a problem. I joined, got used to the "newer Equimagine" lines and then suddenly I lose internet and when I get back on they are all being changed because they've finally decided the horses weren't "popular" enough and therefore needed changing. This right here is actually a valid argument. I'm not bad mouthing anyone or anything like that but it's CS' fault for letting it carry on so long for it to become this mess. Yes there would still have been an argument against it if they'd changed straight away but there would be less for people to argue about between themselves. I'm done anyway. I'll go away and stay away from the forums since I thought this was a place I could have an opinion but apparently it get's slandered and I get told I'm "saying my word is better than everyone else's" so I'm done on the forums. I'll just keep adopting the pet's, trading and leave it all at that. Goodnight.

If you've read Dragon's post above yours, she [or he] explains that the site was still young when they found out, so they had to wait until the right moment to change the lines. The staff didn't have new lines at the time that weren't stolen, which is why they've waited for so long until they were able to actually change the lines. Now that the site is older, the staff is bigger, and that there is a new horse artist, they are now able to change the problem.
Basicly, they couldn't change Equi's lines until they got a new horse artist.

Even when they got the new horse artist, changing all the old lines would have been a very daunting task. But now they've decided it's best for the site in the long run. I've also noticed that they are making the store items available for more species, so this is probably why they wanted to make the horse lines uniform. Once the lines are all the same, items can all be the same, and the store items can be drawn onto the new horse lines and used on all horses. Once these items are available for use on more pets, more users might be willing to buy C$ for them, and so the site gains more revenue.
It makes sense from a business standpoint. And from a moral standpoint as well; I'm sorry, but no one's personal preference for lines should come before the issue of art theft. Most of the old lines were traced or heavily referenced, which is against the art rules on CS. Getting rid of the offending lines is the best choice in the long run, and upholds the artistic integrity of the site.

I'm just going to clarify somethings really quickly~
For starters, I think we let equi have another chance because she was very well liked and I think her original art theft was an accident. We're human, we make mistakes sometimes, even artists. For the record, equi was a horse artist for less than 2 years. If you look at the dates of her first and last sets, she started in May 2009 and finished in September 2010. She was only an artist for about 17 months, not three years. When the lines were found to be stolen, she changed them, and then it was decided that we needed a new artist because there was still suspicion of art theft floating around. I've been around since equi's original lines were introduced, I remember all this. And it's not that horses weren't popular, it's that people were still worried about art theft. A lot of people were still suspicious of equimagine and there might have been more art theft proven, I'm not sure. And as far as I'm aware, everything was dealt with as soon as possible, including changing all of equimagine's old linearts into new ones.
This is in no way intended to be rude. I'm just a supporter of the change stating my opinion just like everyone else. I personally think changing them was best for the website. That might have to do with the fact that I like Yul's lines a lot more, though. xD

Yeah, I know I'm not in the minority (at least as far as members who were around back when Equi was doing the horses and when the big controversy started about the tracing back in '10) in saying that after the first whispers of tracing and art theft surfaced (quickly to be squashed and deleted as fast as they were posted) in March of '10 I lost all respect for the entire equine collection on CS. I even contemplated just deleting all of my equimagine horses. Every single one from both my personal collection and all trade groups. I felt that... ...bad about even possessing them. And I think it's why I've always despised those Gummi Ponies so much. The description for them on the adoption page that month was something about a last tribute or saying goodbye to the original pony lines. Like those evil tained traced stolen lines were something to be proud of. Like they deserved any recognition and appreciation
Anyway, I decided to keep them for the sake of my collection but viewed them all as cheap worthless things that I'd never again trade anything respectable for.
Then along came Yulynh and the problem wasn't solved but was at least no longer being added to with every new set of still questionable lines released each month. I wondered immediately if there would some day come a time when someone would finally take on the daunting task of transferring the original equine designs onto Yulynh's blessed linearts. I figured it wouldn't come any time soon though as it would be a looooot of work and someone(s) would need to be able to dedicate a lot of time to the site to get the job done. I could understand, with everybody on staff volunteering their time and services why it wouldn't be expected to be priority for anybody. But I am so very happy to see it's finally being done. Someone is finally stepping up and doing this wonderful thing for us. ^_^
