- Runningpaw had heard Rivershade and Larkpaw, and was astonished by the blind warrior's actions. Surprise turned into fury as Rivershade leaped and pinned Larkpaw down with rage in his sightless eyes, and the black apprentice crouched low, keeping out of sight as she moved closer. Runningpaw flattened her raven-coloured ears as Rivershade told her fellow apprentice to go get eaten by a wolf pack.
I'm beginning to despise this incessant hedonist myself. Runningpaw thought, dark brown eyes gleaming with irritation towards the blind cat and empathy with Larkpaw. That was unnecessary and selfish of him! Rivershade should be the one getting torn to shreds by the very wolves he wants Larkpaw to get devoured by. Rivershade shouldn't even have been made a warrior; age and disability do not give a cat the right to show this degree of arrogance. He's so egotistical.
She dashed to the brown-pelted apprentice, who had returned to the clearing. "Larkpaw, pay no heed to this brainless piece of fox dung. You know you're too good to fall to his level." Runningpaw's voice was a whisper, only audible by Larkpaw himself.
