What date did you register as a CS member?: July 31, 2008. I've been around a while!

How many posts have you made in the forum: 2506

Without posting your age, are you old enough (and willing) to risk seeing adult content when screening posts that are waiting for moderator approval: Yes I am, and I have no problems with viewing any adult content.

How many days a week do you usually visit CS? I am generally able to visit every day, if only for a quick check-in. Sometimes this changes depending on my amount of free time each day, but I don't foresee that I'll be disappearing for any large lengths of time.

How many hours per day do you usually spend on CS, on a day that you do visit? It depends; some days it will be just one hour, and other days it can be up to four or five plus. On a regular day, I am able to stop by a few times daily and keep up with any forum topics or posts I've been watching. (I do also have a little adoptable thread here that I like to check on often, so there's always that to keep me around!)

Have you moderated on any other forums before? If so, please link to them I was a moderator on Pachoofoosh's Orange Ranch. The site does not appear to be loading for me, but Pachoo has an information topic about it here if you would like to look at that instead. I also used to run various roleplay threads years ago, but I have forgotten the urls since it has been so long.

Now the important question: Why do you want to be a moderator for CS? I have been a member of CS since it began-- I do remember Tess posting journals about it on deviantART and I remember when the thread first came out. Since then, I've been mainly lurking around in the shadows, enjoying the site but not saying much. I have always wanted to help out around here in some way, but before now I haven't acted on it. I do my best to keep myself updated on all rule changes and any important topics, and I believe I have a very good understanding of what is and is not allowed. It would be a pleasure to be able to work with the CS staff and give back a bit to the community.

Can you think of any particular skills you can bring to the position? I'm not sure how valid it would be in this situation, but I've been working at a preschool for the past two years and I also babysit on the side when I'm needed. I have a lot of experience working with younger kids and a vast amount of patience for them as well. I do appreciate that this site is child-friendly and would do my best to ensure it stays that way; I do not tolerate bullying or inappropriate behavior at work and would be equally so on site. As a mediator, I also think I would do well, since I break apart little disputes daily over all sorts of things, and I am able to address and diffuse a situation calmly before it escalates too far.

I wish you luck in choosing new moderators for the site, and thank you for the opportunity to help!

What date did you register as a CS member?:

11 Feb 2012, 22:14

How many posts have you made in the forum (at the time of applying):

1704

Without posting your age, are you old enough (and willing) to risk seeing adult content when screening posts that are waiting for moderator approval:

Yes.

How many days a week do you usually visit CS?:

All days in the week.

How many hours per day do you usually spend on CS, on a day that you do visit?:

5-6

Have you moderated on any other forums before? If so, please link to them:

I did once, just a little kid game it was a good experience in learning things though.

Now the important question: Why do you want to be a moderator for CS?

I want to be a CS moderator because, I will be able to help protect younger viewers from mature content, Stop bullying, fighting, teasing when I see it. It is also a dream to be able to help CS and being more involved. Being able to mature as I go along. The real reason is to help people, I love helping people it makes me feel good, Just to know that I can do a duty of helping is amazing. And also when you help people they become happy and making people happy is what I do best. I have improved on so many things in life like art, role-play, humor, animal things, knowledge. And I too was going through a hard time like most people do and a certain user helped me get through and taught me so many things I never knew before, and I would love to pass them on down to others, and I love to show people that they don't have to be lonely and shy, because I will be their for anybody who needs help, or if they need a hand up. I hope that I have a chance it would be an honor, to be part of this big family.

Can you think of any particular skills you can bring to the position (this is not required) (for example do you speak any other languages, or have you had any experience in peer mediation?):

I do Martial-Arts, so it teaches, A strong Heart, And an Open mind. I also speak some Japanese, French, Spanish.

APPLICATON

What date did you register as a CS member?
Sept 13, 2009

How many posts have you made in the forum (at the time of applying):

2695 (I was not active in the forums other than browsing them for the first year and a half-ish)

Without posting your age, are you old enough (and willing) to risk seeing adult content when screening posts that are waiting for moderator approval:
yes. I am both old enough and willing
How many days a week do you usually visit CS?
5-7

How many hours per day do you usually spend on CS, on a day that you do visit?
1-4, depends on the day. I used to spend a lot of time on here, endless hours. I lost my job, got a new one, etc, and am starting to get back into it again. I'm always on and off on my phone throughout the day.

Have you moderated on any other forums before?
I did one, but it has been shut down

Now the important question: Why do you want to be a moderator for CS?
Ah this answer is always the same. I love this site. I love the fact that adults and children are both into this game. That they are welcome to interact together. That everyone is welcome to be themselves. I love the way this site fosters creativity in so many ways - art, story telling, forum games. I love that there are so many different ways to play the same "game". You can go for a full collection, collect only what you like, or not collect at all and do character adopts and stuff in the forums, or role plays. Ive never been on a website that had so much "freedom" so to speak and was so easy to be a part of. I'd like to give back somehow, and I'd like to be a part of what keeps the site running the way it does.

Can you think of any particular skills you can bring to the position?
I am a very patient person. I don't mind explaining things numerous times in many different ways. I don't mind telling people no. I can say no and be polite at the same time. I have very strong written communication skills. I work in customer service, so i deal with upset people often. I don't take offense or become upset when the reason they are upset gets directed at me.

1.What date did you register as a CS member?: Friday, April 13 2012 (1 year in a few days!)

2.How many posts have you made in the forum (at the time of applying): 7490

3.Without posting your age, are you old enough (and willing) to risk seeing adult content when screening posts that are waiting for moderator approval: Yes, even though I prefer not to, I will if the job tells me to

4.How many days a week do you usually visit CS? Everyday of the week, even sundays if I can

5.How many hours per day do you usually spend on CS, on a day that you do visit? From about 4pm to 10pm, so about 6 hours depending on school

6.Have you moderated on any other forums before? If so, please link to them No I haven't

7.Now the important question: Why do you want to be a moderator for CS? I want to be a moderator because it means I can help clean up some of the mature content that some of the younger members shouldn't really see. I can also help settle the fighting and stop the bullying when I see it, not that I don't already do these things, but the higher rank helps settle things faster and easier, a common member trying to stop a fight can just make it worse with the wrong tone or words.

8.Can you think of any particular skills you can bring to the position Well I'm a senior in high school and I believe my 12 years of settling disputes and help stop bullying in a public school has made me braver and a bit more couragous since no one likes to stand up against someone who can cause you physical or emotional harm. And I absolutely hate bullying, especailly to those who are too shy/weak to stand up for themselves, at my school I'm one of the braver kids that will stand up against someone twice my size just to show the kid who is being bullied that they aren't alone and someone does care about them.

How many posts have you made in the forum (at the time of applying):
969
Without posting your age, are you old enough (and willing) to risk seeing adult content when screening posts that are waiting for moderator approval:
Yep.
How many days a week do you usually visit CS?
Seven.
How many hours per day do you usually spend on CS, on a day that you do visit?
At times I spend an hour or so, tab over, then come back for another hour. I spend usually seven hours throughout the day.
Have you moderated on any other forums before? If so, please link to them
Not forums, but I have modded/head modded petsites.
Now the important question: Why do you want to be a moderator for CS?
I've enjoyed the site since I've come back from my hiatus, and have found it fun to browse the forums and lurk. I'd love to be able to put that 'talent' to better use and help keep the forums safe, clean, and boards where they need to be. I can have multiple tabs open to a bunch of different threads and check them all eventually. The community here is extremely nice and would love to be able to get more involved in it.
Can you think of any particular skills you can bring to the position (this is not required) (for example do you speak any other languages, or have you had any experience in peer mediation?)
I have previously modded and know how to level-headily solve problems and deal with users that may be upset with a rule they have broken.

  1. What date did you register as a CS member?:
    November 6th 2008.
  2. How many posts have you made in the forum (at the time of applying):
    2310 posts atm.
  3. Without posting your age, are you old enough (and willing) to risk seeing adult content when screening posts that are waiting for moderator approval:
    Yes, yes I am.
  4. How many days a week do you usually visit CS?
Usually everyday, unless something else (like family problems, computer malfunctions) comes up.
  5. How many hours per day do you usually spend on CS, on a day that you do visit?
    About 3-15 hours a day.
I have cs open almost all the time on my computer and get on my phone when I'm not by the computer.

  6. Have you moderated on any other forums before? If so, please link to them
No, I haven't. I've always wanted to be a part of the team but never had the courage to apply for a moderator spot. But I feel like I'm ready to help and ensure that all the rules are followed and keep this site child friendly.
  7. Now the important question: Why do you want to be a moderator for CS?
Well as probably most of the other contestants I want to help out in the cs community and ensure that all the rules are followed by all members. When i spend my free time on cs i go through many different topics to see if the rules are followed. Just cause I want to see how well this site is taken care of. And when I something see inappropriate posts I report it to a mod. But sometimes I wish I was able to remove them myself before someone else sees it and get offended by it.

I can't stand rudeness and don't want any other member to get treated bad in any way. To me cs is a friendly community and have plenty of younger users who don't undertand all of the rules of the site and might need someone to point them in the right direction.

I'm capable of taking rude comments without letting it get to me and I'll always act calm and try to solve the problem/issues in a mature way. I've had some minor issues with some other members on cs but worked things out in a rational way without having to contact a moderator and get both "participants" pleased in the end.

Cs has been a big part of my life since I found it back in 08, and have had it's ups and downs. Nevertheless, I have stayed on cs and really enjoyed it's kind members and watched how much it has grown and still do! And I want to be a part of that development and give something back to the community and also help this site grow even more.

  8. Can you think of any particular skills you can bring to the position (this is not required)?
Well I've been on cs for some time and know my way around here pretty good. And i'm not getting upset easily and always think things through before making a move. And I think that this is a good qualification of a mod.

I try to help people when they need help and are never unkind to anyone and treat all members with respect.

I'm from sweden so I speak swedish fluently, and english is my second language so I don't have any problem understanding it.
All I can promise is that I'll do my very best to help out and keep everything in check.

I wish you luck in choosing new moderators. And thank you for the opportunity to help!

Re: GLOBAL MODERATORS - Now Hiring! Apply within. Age 18+ on

Postby rainbowpanda101 » Thu Apr 11, 2013 6:43 pm

What date did you register as a CS member?

I registered on June 25, 2010.

How many posts have you made in the forum (at the time of applying)?

At the time of applying, I have 3,507 posts.

Without posting your age, are you old enough (and willing) to risk seeing
adult content when screening posts that are waiting for moderator approval?

Yes, I'm most certainly old enough and willing to take the risk.

How many days a week do you usually visit CS?

Every single day of the week, unless I'm out of town and don't have Internet access.
If I do go out of town and don't have Internet access, it is usually only for the weekend.

How many hours per day do you usually spend on CS, on a day that you do visit?

Because of school and work, the amount of hours I spend per day differs. On work days, I'm typically on for a few hours in the early afternoon and then get on for another few hours when I get home really late at night. On school days, I'll be on for an hour in the morning, check the site for about thirty minutes between classes, and then get on when I get home from school and will be on the rest of the night until I go to bed. If I don't have work or school and am not out of town, I'll be on throughout the whole day. I usually leave CS in an open tab even when I'm checking other websites that I frequent. So the hours I'm on differs pretty drastically, but typically I'm on from anywhere from 4 or 5 hours to the whole day. I don't take classes during the summer, so after May I'd be able to be on much more than that.

Have you moderated on any other forums before? If so, please link to them.

I did a little moderating on the website Chibifurs at the end of last year, but I unfortunately cannot link to the site because it was shut down due to coding problems. I had to handle a number of bots posting obscene images on the site, so that's nothing new to me. I do moderate my own art shops in the Chickensmoothie forums. I've had quite a few various art shops in the past where I've had to give people warnings and remind them to follow the rules of the shop. I realize that's nowhere near the same as being a Global Moderator, but I hope it still counts as some experience in moderating. My most current art shop is Creative Cafe. It is pretty active when it is open, so I've had to keep my eye on it to make sure everybody is following the rules. So far I haven't had anything too troubling, as the customers have all been very nice.

Can you think of any particular skills you can bring to the position?

I know this is out of order, but I wanted to answer the "important question" last. I hope that's okay!

1. I'm extremely fluent in English. I'm fairly adequate at understanding broken English and chatspeak, and I'm not afraid to ask people to clarify what they're saying if I can't understand them.

2. I'm all about being professional when handling any situation. I recently had to deal with a highly disgruntled commissioner on deviantart.com. They had paid me, in points, to do art for them. There was a misunderstanding between the two of us regarding how the art was to be done. After the art was posted, they wrote a number of rather rude comments on the piece, in public where anyone could have read them, and asked me to consider completely redoing the entire thing. I was upset, appalled at what they'd written, and could very well have written them back and been just as nasty. But I allowed myself to take a deep breath, calm down, and then write them a note. I handled it in what I considered to be a professional manner, and I was very frank but never rude back to them. I even sent the points back to them and deleted the art, to show that I was sorry for the entire misunderstanding. I've also recently had to deal with spam messages on deviantart and other rude commentators. In those instances, instead of engaging with the people I simply hid or reported their messages. If I'd been a moderator, I would have given the rude commentators warnings and banned the account that was sending out the spam.

3. I have a no-nonsense approach to rule breaking, but on the other hand I can also be super friendly. I'm focused on getting justice, but I would never take it to the extreme. I'd dole out punishments that fit the crimes. If it's someone's first warning and wasn't anything serious, I would be courteous to them and explain how they broke the rule and what to do differently in the future. If it's someone's sixth warning and they obviously have been warned multiple times not to do something and they did it again, I would be more strict in my word usage but never rude or demeaning to them.

4. I'm super eager and love to help out in any way I can. I've had various people message me on Chickensmoothie and ask me questions, and I always try to reply to them to the best of my ability. And if I cannot answer their questions, I refer them to someone who can. I've also occasionally stumbled onto threads where people were asking questions that I was able to answer for them, which is something I'd like to do more of.

5. I'm familiar with Chickensmoothie's rules, and I know where to go to double check rules if I need reminding.

6. I am a quick learner and would easily be able to handle learning how to delete posts, move threads, etc. I already know how to edit and delete my own posts, so I'm assuming it isn't much different than that.

Now the important question: Why do you want to be a moderator for CS?

I want to be a Global Moderator because Chickensmoothie is the best, most amazing, most fantastic, most stupendous website on all of the Internet! Okay, in all seriousness, I've been in love with the website since the moment I joined, and it would be a dream come true to be able to give back at least some of what the website has given me, in some way or form. It really is my favorite website on the entire Internet. There are so many aspects to the site that make it so well-rounded that I'm never bored when I'm on here. Everything from the linearts of the pets to the dress up items, from the grouping system to the trading system, even the fact that you can use almost an endless number of different symbols in your username, everything about this site makes me love it. The events are always so well thought out and perfect, the pets designs are absolutely gorgeous and stunning, the Staff and most of the players are incredibly nice, the Pound is an ingenious idea...I could go on all day, but I know you have more forms to go through! Haha.

When I joined, I'd been looking for a pet website that didn't require you to click the pets to make them grow because I found that tedious and frustrating. But what I found in Chickensmoothie was so much more than that. I've met so many wonderful people on here that I never would have never met otherwise, some of whom I consider to be my best online friends. I've grown in leaps and bounds as an artist because other Chickensmoothians have given me reason to practice my skills. This website has been my paradise away from a harsh reality for the last three years, and I plan to be around for years to come. I've had to deal with a lot in the last three years, including the deaths of three grandparents and depression, but coming onto Chickensmoothie always brings a smile to my face. It might seem silly to a lot of other people, but I would consider it a true honor and a privilege to be a Global Moderator for this website. So thank you, so much, for the chance to have my username turn green.

Thank you so much for this amazing opportunity! Good luck to everyone who is applying! Chickensmoothie will be lucky to have whoever is chosen as the newest Global Moderators. ^_^
