What date did you register as a CS member?
    October 7th, 2009

How many posts have you made in the forum?
    11767.

Without posting your age, are you old enough (and willing) to risk seeing adult content when screening posts that are waiting for moderator approval?
Yes, I am old enough and I am perfectly willing to view such posts.

How many days a week do you usually visit CS?
    7 days a week.

How many hours per day do you usually spend on CS, on a day that you do visit?
On weekdays I usually spend - at the very least - 3 hours online, but that is very rare. Most weekdays I spend around 5 - 6 hours on CS. On weekends I'll spend a good 12-16 hours on CS.

Have you moderated on any other forums before? If so, please link to them:
I have moderated on several other sites before. I've been an Artist and have now become both Artist and Admin Assistant on Chibifurs. Unfortunately, the site basically imploded from problems with coding and the link no longer works. However the site is starting up again, I'm not allowed to link to it until it opens. Alhough as some proof that the site exists, we were hiring staff here until recently, and I posted several times answering questions.

I am also an group moderator on dA in a group here with about 300 members. I often have to decide whether art is appropriate for the group, and whether it belongs in the category it is submitted to. I have also been in charge of a couple big threads here on CS, including Light On Lights Off and Adopt a Newbie and I will expand on those threads later.

Why do you want to be a Global Moderator?
I want the position because helping people is something I've enjoyed doing for a long time. From the FTT to AAN, I've been helping out members daily. I just realized I knew an answer to a rarity question or that there was no newbie adoption program, and I decided to do something about it. I can always, and will continue, to help people out for the rest of my life - I enjoy it too much.

Being able to answer someone's question, reporting something harmful to CS, knowing that I just gave a newbie someone who would lead them through CS, that is what gives me that warm fuzzy feeling because I've lent a helping hand. That's why I keep doing it - not because I want to give myself a good impression so I can be a Global Moderator and be 'important', but because I enjoy helping keeping the forums clean, helping people, helping the site grow - I want to make a lasting and positive impression on CS.

I already do the best I can now to help make CS better and to keep it clean (even if this means just reporting a rude message or an inappropriate image that hasn't already been reported/seen, correcting someone, etc), however I believe I can do more as a Global Moderator as I will be able to jump into the situation directly and get to the root of the problem.

Can you think of any particular skills you can bring to the position?
Of my skills, the first and foremost I think is my ability to run threads and handle large amounts of people. I have run Adopt A Newbie for nearly a year now, and hosted Lights On Lights Off for the past two years. In both threads I was faced with problems like fights, rule breaking, troublemakers, and repeated questions. I learned how to handle these things in a calm and collected manner, and how to become the unbiased observer who could handle disagreements. I was able to set down rules and enforce them, while still being open-minded about the way I ran things. In AAN specifically I took in newbies that were more difficult to deal with and was able to help them, and I also found new and improved ways to make the thread run better. In LOLO, I had to deal with 1000+ users on a daily basis (if only for a month) and I found myself quickly adjusting to the leadership role.

I have also been frequenting the "is this a fair trade?" thread from as early as May 2011. Over time I managed to build up my knowledge of rarities and now I find people coming to me specifically and asking me questions. I especially love that I'm able to teach others on the FTT and help them with their trades. I want to keep learning so I can keep helping and in turn, keep teaching. I've also been answering and welcome people on the Help & Intro boards, not only to help, but to learn what I can. I've been learning a lot about the CS rules and specifics in the past months, allowing myself to understand and follow the rules as well as I possibly can, and help teach other users about these rules. I know these kind of things might be more of what a General Helper is expected to do, but I think that any staff should be open and friendly to the community as well as being willing to help people when they need it.

I have also used the Oekaki quite a bit here, and I enjoy using the program. I have explored Oekaki and learn a lot about it, and I've striven to continue learning more about so I can learn about and know every aspect of CS. One last, final skill I feel I might have is actually connected to my job in real life. Though I don't like to tell people, I am in the US Coast Guard, and I've come to understand that at times information cannot be handed out, no matter how insignificant it might seem. I know that the position requires confidentiality, and I know how to maintain confidential information, especially in such a large community. Having this job has also taught me how to deal with excessive stress, and how to be ready for something at any time - not only this, but it has also taught me how to manage my time efficiently.

What date did you register as a CS member?: May 15th, 2011.
How many posts have you made in the forum (at the time of applying): 13469.
Without posting your age, are you old enough (and willing) to risk seeing adult content when screening posts that are waiting for moderator approval: Yes, definitely.
How many days a week do you usually visit CS? 7.
How many hours per day do you usually spend on CS, on a day that you do visit? I tend to be on CS most of the day when I'm doing work and such, because I have a smartphone with internet, and I can use my iPad when I have wi-fi. I can constantly check trades and go on the forums and such all day long. When I come home, I am on the internet for at least 5-7 hours in the afternoon because I take online classes and am more often than not checking the forums, PMs, and trades on CS. CS is definitely my favorite website to go on in my more than enough spare time.
Have you moderated on any other forums before? If so, please link to them: I have moderated on other, smaller sites before and know the responsibilities of being a moderator, but most have become inactive and I no longer have the links for them.
Now the important question: Why do you want to be a moderator for CS? I feel that if I have the power to do more to help out the CS community, I will be able to help more in general. I'm not saying that I don't have the power to help out as a normal member; I do that a lot by helping other people with trades and other questions through PM and such. I believe that CS needs mature, capable people to be moderators where most questions would be directed to, and I feel that I am qualified to fill a role with those responsibilities. I am good at (and particularly enjoy) helping people out with questions they have about the site, trades, or anything else in general, because I know how CS runs. As it is similar to what I do in real life, I am able to handle many conflicts calmly until the problem is resolved, and I feel that that is a good quality to have to become a moderator. I am able to to see both sides of an argument and am able to find the solution sufficiently and fairly. And most importantly, I would enjoy it very much and would leap at the opportunity to help any time that I can.
Can you think of any particular skills you can bring to the position (this is not required) (for example do you speak any other languages, or have you had any experience in peer mediation?) I am involved in many different leadership activities in my church and other places, and often work with younger people (elementary, middle school, and high school) in different counseling practices. Working with children this age, I feel that I would be able to take what is thrown at me as a global moderator and deal with it in a respectful, safe way. I also know quite a few different languages; I am fluent in English and Dutch, and also know (but am less fluent) in both German, French, and a little bit of Spanish. Besides these skills outside of CS, I also know a lot about CS itself. I often jump at the opportunity to help out anyone with a question about CS, and I trade, post, and stalk the forums more often than not. Knowing the way CS works and what the rules are is definitely an extremely important skill (in my opinion) to be any sort of general helper, or moderator in general, and I enjoy doing such things.

What date did you register as a CS member?: (if it's less than 8 months ago, do not apply)

I joined Jun 27, 2011 though I didn't really start playing on CS until October 2011.

How many posts have you made in the forum (at the time of applying): (if it's less than 300, do not apply)

As of currently, I have 4073 posts on the forums.

Without posting your age, are you old enough (and willing) to risk seeing adult content when screening posts that are waiting for moderator approval: (If you don't know what I'm talking about, read the first post again)

Yes, I am old enough - I already deal with adult content with the other website I moderate.

How many days a week do you usually visit CS?

I am on every single day of the week, and you can almost always find me on here even on vacation I like to check in :)

How many hours per day do you usually spend on CS, on a day that you do visit?

I'm usually on CS everyday between 2-4+ hours, sometimes more depending on homework schedule, daily activities, and family time. I live in California in the United States meaning that I am usually on aside from going on my phone at school from 4:30 PM + .

Have you moderated on any other forums before? If so, please link to them

I am currently a moderator on a popular adoptable website called Pet Adoptables (http://www.petadoptables.com and http://www.petadoptables.com/forums/). I've been a moderator with the site since June 2011 and my username is the same as on here.

I am a moderator on a forums that is now dead: http://worldofbooks.forumotion.com/ and was a moderator on a website and forum called Albisian before it was deleted.

Now the important question: Why do you want to be a moderator for CS?

The main reason why I want to be a moderator is because I love to help other members out. I try helping out in the fair trade thread when I'm not busy surfing CS's forums and when I'm not busy with moderator duties on Pet Adoptables. In addition, making other members smile and feel safe is one thing that I love to promote. I have been on many websites, many of them I left because either the moderating team wasn't kind to newer members or the atmosphere of the site wasn't fun. For me to stay on a specific site, it is a very rare thing and for to want to come back everyday, it has to be an extremely friendly site with a lot of fun and personality to it. Being a moderator would allow me to help keep the friendly atmosphere on the site, as well as, being able to help members with issues they might have including being able to jump into a conversation that has turned sour and make it a fun conversation or at least allowing members to understand each other better.

Right now, I work to help other members and always will try and help others by giving simple advice, or sending random gifts to kind users. Helping others allows me to be happy.

Can you think of any particular skills you can bring to the position (this is not required) (for example do you speak any other languages, or have you had any experience in peer mediation?)

I don't considered these particular skills, but I have had personal experience with dealing with rude, angry members on Pet Adoptables. Because of this experience, I know I can handle large groups of members and can make a situation calm again. An example of this is when ten members get angry about a member saying something controversial. I would quickly read through all the posts, pick out the posts that seem controversial, and then reply calmly to the argument (depending on what it is) to make everyone feel calm. Once things have calmed down, I would quietly discuss that members are allowed to have their own opinions (depends on what the opinion was ;) ) and that everyone should respect each other. If that doesn't do it, I would peacefully PM the member and talk to them very quietly. I wouldn't force anyone to apologize to each other, but I would make sure they can "see eye to eye".

I also know when things that have been said are inappropriate. Dealing with many members can be hard to tell who started it, but you have to gauge on the reactions of other members. Some things are obvious and deserve a ban (like someone spamming everywhere) while other offensives could be dealt with a warning or suspension. I have done all three multiple times on PA based on the facts, not on the member. I can be extremely unbiased about a situation.

In addition, I can speak a little bit of Spanish thanks to my school, though I'm not the greatest I can understand some basic sentences/conversations/thoughts which can help me if I have to speak to someone in Spanish.

  2. How many posts have you made in the forum (at the time of applying): 3576
  3. Without posting your age, are you old enough (and willing) to risk seeing adult content when screening posts that are waiting for moderator approval: Yes :)
  4. How many days a week do you usually visit CS?: Every single day :)
  5. How many hours per day do you usually spend on CS, on a day that you do visit? It's pretty much constantly open. When I'm not busy with school, I can spend at least a few hours actively on Chicken Smoothie, much longer during events.
  6. Have you moderated on any other forums before? If so, please link to them No, haven't had the opportunity to
  7. Now the important question: Why do you want to be a moderator for CS? I'd like to contribute to this site in more ways than just trading and surfing the forums. I have thoroughly enjoyed this site in the year and a half I've been here, and I'd love to be able to help out both the admin and the players by making this website a safer place for younger and older users alike.
  8. Can you think of any particular skills you can bring to the position (this is not required) I speak some Spanish, and manage to keep a level head in pretty much any situation, especially on the internet, so I think I would be a good fit for this position.

What date did you register as a CS member?:
August 10th, 2009.
How many posts have you made in the forum (at the time of applying):
5552.
Without posting your age, are you old enough (and willing) to risk seeing adult content when screening posts that are waiting for moderator approval:
yes I am.
How many days a week do you usually visit CS?
Every day.
How many hours per day do you usually spend on CS, on a day that you do visit?
for almost 6 to 8 hours a day.
Have you moderated on any other forums before? If so, please link to them
I have not, I am a mini-mod on an inactive forum listed here: Here
Now the important question: Why do you want to be a moderator for CS?
I love helping people, I know that sounds probably really repetitive but I greatly do enjoy being able to help others that need it, and I can also be strict when need. I do not stand for bulling to happen and I would enjoy blocking the post from anyone reading the hurtful things they can say. All in all I would like to help others.
Can you think of any particular skills you can bring to the position (this is not required)
I speak some French, and I'm not sure if this counts but I have been told I'm very easy to talk to and I am calm under pressure.

    1. What date did you register as a CS member?:
    Mon Aug 25, 2008
    2. How many posts have you made in the forum (at the time of applying):
    8131
    3. Without posting your age, are you old enough (and willing) to risk seeing adult content when screening posts that are waiting for moderator approval:
    Yes.
    4. How many days a week do you usually visit CS?
Usually seven unless I'm traveling or have urgent work to do.
    5. How many hours per day do you usually spend on CS, on a day that you do visit?
About four hours for three days each week. Other days I log in several times for a few minutes.
    6. Have you moderated on any other forums before?
Yes, but it was a very small one and it is gone now. I don't have much experience handling users, but I do know how to work with the forum functions (i.e. deleting or moving posts, etc.)
    7. Now the important question: Why do you want to be a moderator for CS?
I have been in CS for a while now and I have seen the community grow so much. I'm so happy and impressed at CS for being able to maintain such high levels of quality and such a vibrant atmosphere even as it keeps expanding. To explain myself better, CS is unique in a way among web adoptable sites because of the close-knit community that the moderators and admins have worked so hard to build. Sure, we have amazing adoptables and artists, but other sites have those too. What has kept me coming back into CS even after intermittent hiatus periods while I abandoned accounts I've made in other sites is the fact that I'm personally and emotionally attached to CS. I've seen it grow and I've had close contact with the responsive site staff. Tess has answered personally to some of my posts and I love that and I want to be able to help out around the site and put in a little bit of myself to keep the forums clean and friendly in order to show others the reason that CS is a great place; it loves its users. On a less serious note, I'd also like to dedicate my free time from moderator duties making life a living hell for the people on the " Count As High As Possible Before A Moderator Posts" thread, as a member I've always thought sometimes we get too far.
    8. Can you think of any particular skills you can bring to the position? I can write excellent Spanish. I have also been blessed with an extremely calm and patient disposition.
