KittyCatKita wrote:I like the new unicorn lineart for the most part lol There's a couple of little things but all in all I really do think it is an improvement.
^^ It isn't exactly as I imagine a unicorn, but there is no set definition for what a 'unicorn' is supposed to look like. I mean yes, it is a deer like creature with the head of a horse, one horn, goat beard and a lion tail in the classic European pictures, but those in Asia are different, and those in Africa are different. Honestly anything with one horn is technically by definition of the name; a unicorn. Uni- meaning one and Corn- meaning horn (from Latin)

XD It is going to be different to different people what they see in their minds eye as a unicorn. I think Yulynh did an amazing job trying to recreate them in a cartoony and child-friendly fashion. So what if they are a little girly? Unicorns aren't real so what does it matter? XD It is just supposed to be for fun!

I am really happy they kept it rearing though I will admit. I really did like the rearing pose for the unicorns better than the others. It looked the best for the unicorns in my opinion but I am glad it looks like they arent trying to break their necks anymore! That always really turned me off.

Feel free to jump on me for expressing my opinion, but don't expect a response, I see no reason to fight.

I agree with the rearing part, im glad they kept that. I just think they should have toned it down a bit with the amount of mane and kept the tail. I didn't think they needed changing in the first place tbh.

I won't argue because I am a peaceful person, I just do not like the changes. I liked the old unicorns, the ones that represented the European unicorns with the goat beard and the lion tail. I don't like the new changes and don't think I ever will. It's not Yulynn, it's the designs. I think the old horses had more character and the old unicorns were nicer. I always will. I'm sorry that not everyone agrees with me but you won't change my mind at all.

In most unicorn art work they are girly funny thing is there is rarely a boyish looking unicorn. Unless your speaking of those included on Middle age family crests and shields but those are just adornments surrounding the shield itself so they don't really count. also unicorns as far as naturally existing they don't except in cases such as genetic defects in goats or deer. but since it's genetic defect it's not really considered natural or a unicorn.

Even the last unicorn, unicorns are girly they have eye lashes a long slender body skinny legs i find the last unicorn to be very very girly even more so then MLP. My reasoning behind it is this basically it's the kind elegant grace a little girl wants in unicorn beauty fragile looks and a very adorable looking face for the last unicorn art.

Edit: I am starting to think people may be having trouble understanding my posts. I did try as best as I could to clean up the post and make it readable but it still feels unreadable even to myself.

How do they not count? Hmm? Also, this is what a European Unicorn is depicted as.

Yes but european unicorns are the common stylistic belief I am not counting them simply because they are the common stylistic belief which has mostly been veered away from to give us the modern day unicorn which is more equine in appearance then the old european ones.

I'm not saying make them look exactly like that but I preferred the old lines at they looked more similar to that.

Also, I personally prefer the european to anything. I don't like the "new" unicorns that people now look at. How would it be if someone steered away from something like the European Dragon and no longer counted it and Malks linearts had to be changed because of something like that? No-one would like it would they? It's the same situation. If it was found that Malk had traced her dragon linearts and they had to be changed then how many people do you think would be arguing about that?

Asian depiction of a unicorn: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Qilin ... _tuhui.jpg

European: http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?hl=en&bi ... 5424804687

this shows that the depiction from two entirely different cultures that would have hardly ever met or not met at all at the time when unicorns first appeared in mythology. And shows how many similarities they share. Such as the lion tail and deer feet and the classic one horn and fur tufts.

It's a weird pose, but it's basically correct.
Here are some different types of unicorns:

Also this is what a unicorn is now viewed as The european style is no longer a stylistic belief because it's been modernized to have unicorn like these examples below.

due to digital artwork and the fact that the unicorn was modernized the stylistic belief is that unicorns look like the examples below not the old european style. these are the ones we are all used too.
