Ruelle kept her eyes fixed on the ground as Kyiera told the pack of Chaser's sacrifice. She hadn't known the old brute as well as some of the others, but he'd been a caring, if occasionally grouchy, guardian to them all, and his loss struck her hard. Regret filled her - if they had grabbed Chaser as well while they ran, if they had never entered this forest at all. So many if's, but far too late. Raising her head as Kyiera did so, her eyes fixing on the clear sky, she howled her grief to the sky, heedless of any who heard. The rest of the pack followed suit, creating a haunting melody. In the back of her mind, she knew they couldn't stay much longer in case the other pack pursued them, but they owed Chaser this much, to pay tribute to him.

Averill felt as if his sadness had crippled him. His limbs and mind both felt heavy, as if the shock of Chaser's sudden death was a physical burden upon him. It was still hard to really believe - just a moment ago, they had been fighting side by side, whirling and snapping ferociously like old times. And in one moment, that alpha had taken his life away. He howled, releasing his overwhelming grief, longing, and also anger. Anger at the cruelty of the world, to have first stolen their home and now their most senior pack member. If only they could turn back right now and tear that brute to pieces for what he had taken from them!

Kris howled even though he'd hardly known Chaser personally. The heavy atmosphere surrounding the pack dragged him down as well, and his howls were heartfelt as he mourned along with the others. One wolf less was a weaker pack, and that was the last thing Kris wanted.

Kyiera
{ alpha } { fae } { 4 years } { the calm }
After a few moments, Kyiera stopped howling, although the wind continued to carry her cries. Sighing, she called the attention of her pack. "We need to move out as quickly as possible - I know you all are tired, but if we stay here any longer, the other pack might get us," she told them, before turning away from the direction they had come from. She felt guilty for leaving Chaser behind - if she had just been a bit faster, the old brute would still be with them. Glancing once at Ruelle, she nodded before taking point. They needed to find a good place to stop to regain their energy.
Randir

Randir was jolted out of his sorrow when their alpha announced that they had to move out. He was about to retort and say that it was too soon, but reminders of the enemy pack caused him to rethink that and he followed the fae without question. His eyes scanned the area, looking for a good place for them to recuperate.

Ruelle nodded, waiting till the rest of the pack had started off after Kyiera before bringing up the rear. They didn't travel far, just out of range of the other pack's territory, before they settled down to rest on a bare patch of ground. Seeing the pack quietly nursing their wounds and resting their tired limbs, Ruelle lay down to do the same, exhaustion suddenly washing over her after the adrenalin-filled battle. It didn't help that she was hungry and thirst as well. With a sigh, she looked around for Kris, suspecting that he hadn't been in the battle. "Come on," she said shortly, with a brief nod to the omega, "let's go for a quick hunt. Make yourself useful." Her temper was slightly short after all that had happened, and she padded off without waiting for a reply.

Averill collapsed on the dusty ground the moment the pack stopped moving, his weary paws giving out from under him. He laid his head on his paws, bone-weary, only flicking an ear when Mirri nosed him and lay down so her pelt touched his. He heard Ruelle calling on another wolf to go and hunt, but Averill didn't even raise his head. Their pawsteps had barely faded before his eyes closed and he sank into a fitful sleep.

Kris rolled his eyes at Ruelle's turned back, grumbling slightly under his breath. Nevertheless, he got up and trotted after her; he did indeed feel and look much better than his other packmates. He hoped he wasn't going to get told off for his pathetic hunting skills though. The grass around the area was thick and long, though slightly browned by the sun, and it was clear to any passing wolf that there were many rabbits lurking around. Eagerly, the omega quickened his steps, lowering his head to sniff around at the grass.

Kyiera
{ alpha } { fae } { 4 years } { the calm }
As Ruelle trotted off with Kris, Kyiera tried to remain awake. She was exhausted, but if no one was going to keep watch, there was a chance that they would get ambushed, and that was never a good thing. Shaking herself, she tried to wake herself up, but the day's events were taking their toll on her. Her blue eyes drifted over her pack mates - they were tired as well, and she could do nothing to help them. With a soft sigh, she looked for a place to stand guard - that was all she could do for now.
Randir
{ hunter } { brute } { 5.5 years } { the cautious }
Randir was about to wander towards Averill but stopped when Mirri cuddled closer to him. Resigned, he settled some distance away from them and fell asleep. In the back of his mind, he told himself that he should've probably gone with Ruelle to hunt for food, but he was just so exhausted - he wouldn't be of any use to anyone at the moment. Not when he was still grieving.

Ruelle left Kris alone to hunt; it would be difficult to catch anything with both of them tromping around in the grass together, and rabbits didn't require more than one wolf to catch anyway, even if that wolf was incredibly incompetent. The fields were absolutely teeming with prey, and it didn't take long for the fae to drop her third rabbit along with the rest of her catch. She was breathing hard by this time, her chest rising and falling as she stood and looked around warily. With a sigh, she lowered her head and, with some difficulty, picked up all the rabbits before walking off to find Kris.

Kris felt like he was scaring off most of the rabbits where he was. Somehow, he always ended up chasing the fleeing creature through the grass, scaring away all the other rabbits who might otherwise have been unaware of his approach. After two futile chases, he finally grabbed onto one of the swift animals with a huge pounce, biting down on it quickly before it could slip out of his grasp. He followed Ruelle proudly back to the pack then, his catch swinging limply in his jaws. At a pointed nod from the beta, he offered the rabbit to Kyiera, who looked particularly tired, lowering his head respectfully.

Kyiera
{ alpha } { fae } { 4 years } { the calm }
She nodded weakly in thanks when Kris dropped his catch in front of her. Kyiera was forcing herself to do things now, since her brain was close to shutting down - the adrenaline she had felt while she was fighting had finally pumped itself out of her system. Mechanically, she bent down and started eating before finally lying down and falling asleep. She couldn't think anymore - she just couldn't.

{ let's have a bit of fun as everyone reacts to Randir and Mirri, and then the pack can suffer through whatever else we can think of after that xD maybe they have a nice large field/plains except the water source is far away, so they're only staying for a while.
We should have a new wolf or two heh, maybe a love triangle c; }

Ruelle blinked an eye open drowsily, her pelt heating up comfortably under the fierce glare of the afternoon sun. She did prefer the shade of the trees, but this sunning wasn't too bad once in a while. She hadn't felt this contented in what seemed like an age - for once, the pack was safe, rested and fed. Even Kris was lying among the rest of the pack, something that rarely happened, although his permanent proximity to Accalia was getting obvious to all.

Averill cast an annoyed sideways glance at Randir and Mirri, doing goodness-knows-what as they mumbled to each other. He'd basically lost both of his playmates in one fell swoop, and that was beyond terrible to him, not to mention seeing them happier playing around with each other than him! With a whine, the brute rolled on his back, enjoying the tickle of the grass against his fur and skin. He was completely bored - Lyall was much too serious to play a trick on, and he would never dream of doing anything funny around Ruelle or Kyiera.

Kris kept an eye on the new pair with interest, his ears pricked. He felt strangely...jealous of them. Once again, his eye fell on the dozing Accalia, admiring the gleam of her fur and her elegantly tapered muzzle, feeling like his breath had taken away. He couldn't imagine that a brave fighter like her would ever give a failure like him a second look though. With a sigh, he turned back to observing Randir and Mirri with some amusement.

Kyiera
{ alpha } { fae } { 4 years } { the calm }
Kyiera sighed in contentment as she saw her pack at peace. She hadn't seen them this relaxed since.. well, since that incident. Shaking her head, she cleared her thoughts as her eyes drifted to the newest couple in their midst. Truth be told, she wasn't sure how she was supposed to feel about them - as far as she was concerned, non-alpha pairs didn't usually mate, according to what she had been taught - but they weren't exactly a normal pack, as far as she was concerned: their numbers were small, and if faced with another pack with much larger numbers, they would easily be killed.
However, she had to admit that she was slightly jealous - she felt like she usually intimidated other males, the ones who weren't as power-hungry as the tan brute they had fought against. Her eyes involuntarily drifted to Averill, who looked like he was sulking - for lack of a better word. Against her better judgement, she let out a laugh - it was ridiculous to see a grown wolf acting like a pup.
Randir
{ hunter } { brute } { 5.5 years } { the cautious }
Randir was in heaven - or wherever wolves went to after they died. Mirri had accepted him and because of that, he swore that he was never going to let her go. Affectionately, he nuzzled her and made a noise of contentment deep in his throat - if he was a cat, he would have been purring. He could see nothing else but her - as cliche as it sounded.
((When is Kyiera gonna demand that Averill become her mate? AHAHAHAHA XD))
