It's really not like the chief boss of McDonalds signs an order "all workers must be mean to the animals we raise, beat them, feed them poorly and kill them violently". :what: There are many different animal breeding factories, run by different people. Some dont pay much attention to animal care, some do. Some first invest into bigger buildings, some first invest into better holding pens. Some simply have no idea how animals should be cared for properly. Every food provider is like that.

McDonalds is very cheap. For meat to be cheap it has to come from a cheap source, even cheaper than how much the meal costs.
McDonalds does not buy their meat from high quality ranches and farms where cows roam free on quality pastures. That would be extremely expensive meat. I guarantee you their meat sources are NOT how an animal should live, considering most, even "humane" major farms are not how an animal should live(for example, cage free. A giant, dusty barn packed full of chickens is NOT how an animal should live, but it's considered 'more humane'.)
No, McDonalds doesn't "sign an order" to be inhumane. Quite frankly, they don't care how well the animal is treated. Keeping animals in a humane way(happy+healthy) is very expensive, needs more land, and takes more work. Do you think their suppliers give two craps about how their animals are treated? They just want to make the most meat with the least amount of work and money. It doesn't matter how the animal is treated, they just want the cheapest way of supplying McDonalds and America in general with meat.
McDonalds also doesn't own a farm, they get their ingredients from suppliers. Therefore, they can't even treat their animals right or wrong-- the only thing they could do is only accept meat from good suppliers, but they wouldn't do that. They think they're doing pretty good-- after all, there are more than 30,000 of them worldwide, and they're making a huge profit.
The only fast food place I go to is called "Burgerville"(it's only in the Northwest of the United States), they're more reputable and have better, generally healthier meals. Plus their milkshakes are to die for. Sometimes I might go to Burgerville but not McDonalds. I used to enjoy eating their breakfast meals, but now I've done my research and the thought of eating from there disgusts me.
