Do you own a dog?: Yes
Favorite dog breed?: Doberman, husky, Pomeranian, papillon, Yorkshire Terrier and Pekingese... (Well actually I love all breeds...)
Tell us about your dog(s), if you have any!: well... I have two dogs and their both mixed breeds (I'm not sure of Yoyo... Cause my friend said that he's not a mixed breed but he looks like a mixed breed...) Yoyo is very good in escaping... He escapes out of my house in the morning and comes back in the afternoon... Hope is my other dog, he's very quite and calm, and he's... Very... Lazy....

Do you own a dog?: Yes
Favorite dog breed?: Spaniels . Irish Setters. I can't make up my mind.
Tell us about your dog(s), if you have any!: Sugar is my cocker spaniel. She's a master of escape....She got out of a playpen by jumping over the two foot tall playpen. She is really mischievous. She's cute and all BUT there is a down side. She cries at night. Her cries keep the whole neighbourhood awake so...yeah.

Yay, I'm going to see two puppy litters tomorrow! Both litters are purebred Rottweilers - my favourite dog breed ever! Don't worry, I've owned a rottie before, and my mum had one when I was younger. They're all just so adorable, I don't know how I'm going to pick. I'll probably go for a male... but I don't know. I'm trying to keep an open mind. They're all such sweet little things!

Hey guys,
does any of you know what to do with an overexcited dog? My golden retriever puppy nearly dies from excitement when guests come over or he sees another dog. He pulls, barks and ignores all else. He's not aggressive, but he just gets excited which scares some people. Any help/tips? Thanks! C:

I think the best thing you could do would be to use a crate. If you don't already have one and your puppy isn't used to one, here's some info to get you started: x While your puppy is in the crate, you could have the guests some and see him in a calm way.
I also suggest keeping him on a leash while the guests are there, and if he tried to jump up pull him back quite sharply, but not so hard that it would hurt him. Try getting him to sit, then, only when he's calm, allow the guests to pet him or perhaps give him a treat. Also, while you're walking him make sure to allow him to meet strangers - but try hard to keep him calm.
With other dogs, part of it is persistence. Let him meet as many new dogs as possible, of all ages. While he is meeting them, try to keep him as calm as possible - this is very difficult, so be patient - and don't allow him to pull on the leash. If he does something wrong tell him 'no' firmly and pull him back.
If you want any more advice you can PM me. I had similar problems with my boy Reggie, so I know a bit about how to deal with it.

Do you own a dog?: Yes
Favorite dog breed?: Labrador
Tell us about your dog(s), if you have any!: I have one black labrador called George. He is 3 and turning 4 on the 24th April. He likes swimming and walks. He also likes to carry socks around and if you tell him to drop he looks at you with puppy eyes. We tell him again and about 5 socks come out of his month. LOL
Pictures of your dog(s): Can't get one at the moment sorry

Tell your guests to completely ignore him at first until he calms down. Likewise when you are coming home and he's excited to see you, do the same thing. Don't look at him, touch him or speak to him. Eventually he will learn that acting that way means he doesn't get any attention.

I have another trainer you could add to the front:
Zak George.
He's actually quiet a famous dog trainer, he has been on tv quiet a few times, he had his own TV show at one point but left it (can't really remember why).
__
Also I am very proud of my dog today. I took him to town with me and he was sat outside one of the shops waiting for me when the shop owner walked in with her German Shepherd. My dog didn't react. I was so proud of him, normally he would go nuts but he didn't. That's such a huge step for him.
Unfortunately he did let me down on the way home because we walked past another dog and I couldn't get another treat out my pocket quick enough (stupid bag got all twisted) so he lunged and barked. Obviously he never got to the dog because I always make sure I have a good hold of the lead with both hands but I think the other dog was a bit annoyed about it. :/
I am going to try and organised a dog walk with the neighbors dog because both dogs always bark at each-other through the fence and I really want to reduce this and hopefully it will help. I know how to introduce my dog to other dogs, I do this many times so he still socializes (even though he lives with another dog) it's just when he meets new dogs he doesn't like so I think it would be good for him to make a new friend.
Sorry for my slow response time on RP's. My new job steals ALL my time. :(
