Luckily, most of my friends (that is, two of my friends and then the majority of my family) are part of the fandom or at least enjoy the show. One of my brothers refuses to admit publicly or anonymously that he likes it, but still watches it, and then all of my other siblings love the show. My mom is okay with it, and buys me pony merchandise on occasion^^ My dad makes fun of it, but I'm gonna go ahead and say that he's in the "Denial" stage.

SOOOO.....Who wants to hear about some awesome MLP experiences I had today?

I was out getting my glasses adjusted with my mother, and she said she had to go to Target. I agreed to go with her, knowing full well there'd be pony merchandise there for me to buy. X) On the way there, she nonchalantly said that there was a sale on shirts going on. I simply nodded and said I'd try some on. She then told me, "They even have a MLP shirt for sale." I looked at her, decided she wasn't lying, and smiled. She continued, "You're a brony too much*... If you'd like, you can try it on. If you're interested." I said that I was interested and I'd look and see if I liked it. We got to Target, and my mom found the shirts. I was surprised to find that they were of the original MLP from the 1980s, but I seriously loved the design. I picked out the smallest size - I'm REALLY hard to find clothes for, due to my tiny size - and went to go try it on. It didn't fit - I needed one size smaller. Target was completely out of that size. X( We looked through the racks, and...nothing. I didn't bother asking anyone, either, because the sale's been going on for almost a week. I probably just was too late, and all of the shirts in my size were scarfed up. I ended up getting a different shirt with an owl on it, and when my brother saw it and found out I wasn't able to get the MLP shirt, he pointed to the owl emblem and said, "Hey, it could be Owlowiscious!" I really hadn't thought of that, and thanked him for the idea. :)
If you know my mother, you know that the scene I just told you about should never have happened. My mother thinks MLP is juvenile and childish, and doesn't like that I like it. She doesn't understand why I like it. She has tried a couple episodes, but doesn't like the show. That's okay though. I can't force her to like it. But she rarely goes out of her way to tell me about pony merch, so it was REALLY sweet of her to do so today. :) If we'd found the shirt, I think she'd have even bought it for me. X)

*My mother signed me up for a website, and made my username "brony2much". Because I liked the username so much, she sometimes calls me that. X)

At Target, I bought a Crystal Empire Applejack - with the green hat and two apples. It's the first tinsel-hair G4 pony I've ever bought. ;) While I was waiting in line to check out, the woman behind me asked me what I was buying. (I would estimate her age to be anywhere from 30 to 50. It was hard to tell.) I was silent for a moment, thinking of how to say that it was from MLP:FiM without giving a bad impression of the fandom or the show.
She looked at AJ a bit closer and asked, "Is that a pony?"
I nodded, a smile on my face. "Yes, she's from a show called 'My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic'."
The woman smiled, and her face clearly stated that she'd never heard of MLP, or didn't have a problem with people who enjoyed the show. She continued looking at AJ. "She's cute!"
I nodded, and said, "Yep. I collect these little guys. Did you know they're cheaper here than at Toys R Us?"
"Really?"
"Yep. Here they're around $5. At Toys R Us, they're at least $10."
The woman was incredulous. "REALLY?!"
I nodded. "Yep. They're overpriced at Toys R Us. They're cheaper here, so...I buy 'em here." I shrugged, still smiling. By then, the line had moved up to the counter and I made my purchase and exited the store.

No one has EVER asked me about MLP merchandise before, so this was a new and exciting experience for me. :)

Maybe I actually made someone want to buy the merchandise, and get into the show. X) Maybe I just helped someone find out about the great show that we all know and love! :D

There's this kid with tourettes in my class, and he CONSTANTLY blurts out stuff, so it's extremely frustrating for me to try to concentrate in class, not only because sometimes I can't hear the teacher over him blurting out stuff. I took Cadance to help remind myself that though this kid may be annoying, he can't help it, and I should show love to him and not get frustrated. I should simply take a deep breath, calm down, and exhibit some patience.

When I got frustrated, I simply remembered that Cadance was sitting in my pocket, and then reminded myself to be more like her. I can't believe it actually calmed me down. Exhibiting her behavior actually helped me to have a good day in class today. X) I think I'll continue to bring her to class, even though no one else knows I have her, as I never take her out of my pocket. ;)

You handled your frustration very well and I am glad you are being so understanding about his Tourettes. I have Tourettes and if he is anything like me, he is probably really embarrassed and wishes he could stop so it is good that people like you can be so patient. :)

That is smart, I did that once with Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy when I was feeling really down. LOL! I thought bringing them along my help cheer me up. LOL!

He told me once that he "only wants to be a good student", so I do think he wants to somehow stop, but is unable to do so. Now that I know that remembering Cadance's techniques might help me, I think I'll try it again when I'm around him. X)

Yes, I've heard that happen as well. :) Bringing Pinkie along seems to brighten up everyone's day.

Honestly almost all cartoons are "meant" for kids and adults. Look, really look at almost any animated movie, comic or tv show. Even though it could be originally marketed for a particular audience doesn't mean it is just meant for that target group.

Many of the surface context is left simple and easy to understand from a child's perspective. However there is so much underlying themes going on to entertain parents and the rest of the family. Like half of the references used in most of the animated movies I've watched that are from my generation. Wrek-it-Ralph makes a portal reference XD How is that not to older people?

I've watched a few episodes that I was able to catch, I saw a few references to my generation and I'm certainly no teenager. However its not so horribly graphic that a younger audience then adolescents are going to watch it. Just they will miss some of the content. But if your like me, you can look at your favorite movies or shows growing up as a kid and see so mich that you missed at that age.

Which is why MLP appeals to so many. It was made in mind for the very young, but also was supposed to cater to the mothers who used to watch the original when they were kids. The surprise from the general populace was the fact males where interested in a 'girl' show.

Wow, that was a pretty cool experience, booklover! ^-^ I'd probably be a Fluttershy if someone asked me about the ponies at checkout. xD

Anyway, I might be getting one of those MLP Build-A-Bears today, which I'm really happy about, since I haven't been there in a few years, and they have ponies. I'm not sure if I want to get Pinkie or Rainbow, though, since I can't get both. This would also almost completely destroy my chances of going to Hot Topic anytime soon, which I have been impatiently waiting to go back to, even though my mom refuses to take me. :c Meh; their stuff's expensive anyway. I really wanted to get that Doctor Whooves vinyl figure though, or the Derpy messenger bag. >:I

i think you should get the pinkie pie at build-a-bear! because if you think about it- loads of bronies love r.d more than pinkie so just do what you wish but i think getting pinkie would suffice a little more.

I might just do that. ^^ Based on the reviews on the B-A-B website, Rainbow Dash seems to have been purchased more, so it would be nice to get Pinkie.

as i always say; it's always better to be different. you might just go up to some of your friends that are bronies and tell them you got a pink from b-a-b, and they all said they got rainbow dash. you'd just be like...

I'm going to randomly jump into this conversation :3

Last time I went to build a bear I was like 9 or 10. I was the oldest person there with my friend and it felt so weird..... Now me being In my teens it's sorta weird to go there with my parents. And build a bear is super expensive!!! Why is everybody going there and not just buying one from Walmart or something?
