I'm considering getting some rats. May I ask, how often should you clean their cage? Like, once or twice a week?
Also, I noticed the lack of rat rps on cs, which made me sad, so I made one! c:

Awesome :D
It really depends on the size of the cage and how messy your rats are. Rats can be smelly, I clean mine out twice a week and they still smell but other people clean them out weekly and have no smell at all.
Sorry for my slow response time on RP's. My new job steals ALL my time. :(

I don't use soap or anything when bathing Baze and Bug, I just let them chill in the tub and I splash water over their backs and rub through their fur with my fingers. It always gets any dirt stains or whatever our easily and they don't like it but they don't freak out over it.
Bug will try to jump out 4-5 times before he settles down, while Baze only tried to jump 1-2 times.

I think my boy is sick, what do you guys think? I had to go to my mom's for 5 days and when I came back one of my boys fur was really puffed up and it's usually smooth. Also, his breathing kinda sounded like feint bubbles popping... He also seems really slow, usually when I come home to the cage, he is the first one to the door but today he was the last. I'm really scared, any help?

If you think he is sick, take him to the vet. We can't see what's wrong with him and any medical advice we give could end up harming or even killing your rattie.

Sounds like he has a respiratory infection, they are common in rats. Take him to the vets if you are concerned.

Bit of a delay with Naomi's litter, since there are so many high-whites I'm having to do MC QT for 8-12 weeks instead of 5-6.
I'm VERY proud to say that, I have some masked bubs in this litter. ^^ and one bew! The patched bubs are looking AMAZING, too! As are my headspot bubs. Looking like I have one variberk & the rest berkshires, but none the less, I'm a very happy momma, as is Naomi!
