I don't think I ever told you guys, but I almost lost Baze. He got out of my moms hands at my sisters and got behind the dryer. Luckily he trusted me enough to walk towards me so I could pick him up.

Anyways, since my mom almost lost Baze, I was able to have her agree to pay to have my boys nails trimmed. (40 bucks, of course I wasn't gonna pay it myself lol)

Tomorrow I'm doing a good cage clean, then I will be giving Baze and Bug a bath (their not going to be happy campers but they need it after all the travelling we did.) hopefully I'll be able to take them over and get their nails done tomorrow as well.

Glad you didn't lose him. It's so hard to then get them back (hasn't happened to me, but other people I know, or on other forums!).

Like I said in the post above... there is absolutely no need to stress them out with bathing them. Rats are such clean animals (like cats). They clean themselves all of the time... your boys are young and healthy and will be looking after themselves just fine. I'm not trying to be rude at all, but there's nothing to gain by bathing them, you'll just stress them out. If you want to try them with water, you could try pea fishing. That would be a lot more fun rather than trying to bath them ;{

Travelling isn't going to make them dirty in the slightest. Hope the journey went okay anyway.

*Flail* Okay, so..

It looks like I MIGHT have some masked bubs in Naomi's litter! SOO excited ^^

Also, got 7 varigated with perfect headspots ^^ the russian dove is one of 'em! too bad I won't be keeping him.. gonna keep working on my RB lines.

Anywhom, it looks like I may have one or two BEWs in the litter, everyone else is masked or patched.

I. am so. proud of this litter. SO PROUD.

Alsooo sadly.. found out I'm allergic to my mice. ;-; badly allergic. It's either I wear gloves and not feel their fur again or rehome them to people whom will love them for the rest of their lives.. I'm opting for homes GRANTED I can find good ones. Not in a hurry at this point, so I'm gonna wait it out and just break out every time I touch them. I do fine with English mice but store quality ones I'm like AAAHH and break out horribly..

The water doesn't stress them all that much. They aren't huge fans of it, but they let me bathe them. And actually travelling did make them dirty. They sat in a travel carrier for about 18 hours with it only being cleaned right before the last 6 hour trip. Both have slight yellow stains on their legs and backs (from climbing over each other)

Plus I think Baze has oil on his belly from my brother touching him without washing it off his hands first. Luckily Base seems to know not to clean that off since it could hurt him. They need the baths so I am going to give them a bath. You have not seen how dirty my rats are, nor do you know how they will react to their baths so please don't jump to conclusions.

(On a side note, even when my cat gets dirty I bathe her. My dogs hate baths more than anything, but they get bathed as well. Sometimes pets need baths no matter the species.)

This is a funny talk. I know my boys love bathes. They get an excuse to be massaged and man they just love it. Most of my girls do too, and those who don't just get to sit in the water and clean themselves. My boys get a bath every 3 weeks.. my girls every 6(my girls stay cleaner).

My boys have a dirt dig pit that they dirt in. But they have gotten clever. They grab some water and make the dirt mud... I have no choice but to bath the stinkers sometimes.

I wasn't jumping to anything, your post said you know they won't be happy with it, but you'll be doing it anyway.

I do know how dirty they can get. Some of the rescues I've brought home have been stained because of how dirty their cages have been. But they'll always clean themselves just fine, that's what rats do.

The only rats I've bathed have been rats with PT / older ratties that have really needed it because they can't clean themselves any more (and have maybe been getting pressure sores etc too).

HellBabe, fair enough if they do enjoy the water. I had a group of siamese boys that used to like a little shallow water in the bath and they'd walk around in it. Washing them isn't the best for their fur though because it can easily dry out the fur / skin. If you really want to, you'd be better using just water.

Yeah. I don't use soap or anything I just let them bath. I have a good Video of them playing with the running water in the bath. Hehe
