If Cherrykit hadn't been suckling, Sunshine might have run over to check that Redkit wasn't getting sick. At least so far her body had handled the stress of motherhood well. She watched Redkit intently, sniffing in a paranoid way for any scent of illness. She was nervous that she was doing something wrong for her first litter.

Sunshine was growing more worried as a faint scent of sickness washed into her nose. Then her 'sensible' side, the part that told her all her kits were nothing but perfect, said she was being paranoid and imagining things.

Redkit coughed again. It was followed but a sneeze.

Cherrykit had finished suckling and curled up for a nap. Sunshine nuzzled her to make sure she was okay, then went to Redkit, nosing him. His muzzle felt too hot to be healthy. "Redkit?" she mumbled in a scared voice.

Redkit wimpered. He was really hot.

Sunshine began to lick her feverish kit firmly, then picked him up. "Time to meet Honeyleaf." she mewed, ducking out of the den with a worried look and heading straight for the medicine den as fast as she could without bumping her kit.

Redkit curled up as he was carried over.

Sunshine brought him into the den, putting him between her front legs protectively and licking the top of his head worriedly. "Honeyleaf? Foxpaw?" she called, her voice soft and carrying.

Foxpaw raced out of the herb store. "Yes?" He asked.
