I do have a secondary fursona ~
I have a deep emotional connection to him, and in someways he is me. I have had him for quite a long time now, and has consumed a part of my life, so I think he does deserve a special part with me. He has been my secondary fursona for a long time, and I don't see that changing. He was made a fursona before, and I still sometimes wonder if he should be my true one, but he doesn't fill the spot completely, thats why he stays as a secondary fursona. I hope its okay to have one here <3

These questions were pretty interesting, so I took a stab at 'em. ^^


How long have you had your fursona for? When did you first create them?
Did you go through a bunch of different designs for them before they became what they are today?

I'm pretty new to the whole fursona thing. It started in 2009 when I was on another pet site, and some people where chatting about their fursonas. The idea intrigued me, and I started thinking about what I would be were I an animal. I was more meek and skittish back then, and the first thing that would pop into my head when I'd think about myself was some type of rodent, particularly a kangaroo rat. It never went much deeper than that, and I never actually got around to designing or naming an actual fursona, so I don't suppose this counts. x3

Then, in 2011, I took a patronus quiz and got a hedgehog as a result and something clicked, like, "oh yes this is me, this fits". Soon after, I got the urge to create my first real fursona. She was a European hedgehog named Evelyn (Evie, for short). She was light blonde in coloring, and at the time she suited me. I really connected to the idea of spines and a soft under layer (yay, metaphors!). But after about a year I grew and changed - became more fierce. I started to associate myself as more of a feline, and then came Josephine, a Maine Coon/Himalayan mix. I have always loved and connected with cats, and here I found that in place of spines, I had claws. Anyway, I liked her design and am still fond of it, but it wasn't what I had in mind when I'd think about Josephine. I just wasn't content, so I ended up changing her design after a few months to a general domestic long-haired cat (she's a mutt, I'm a mutt, it fits, ya know?) with dilute calico markings. And that's up the the present. ^^

Tell us about your fursona's eye colour; Why did you chose this colour? Does it mean anything special to you?

I have green eyes, so all my fursonas have had green eyes.
Albeit more vibrant than mine, and as I tend to go for natural designs,
green always seems to look nice when paired with them.

How did you choose your fursonas name?

Josephine is one of my favorite female names, as is Evelyn in the case of my former fursona.
Her nickname is Jo, because, well... Jo is obviously an appropriate moniker for Josephine,
but it's also informal and I like that sort of flexibility between formal and informal.
Josephine sounds like such a lady-like name, where as Jo is a bit more rugged.
I see myself as both these things, so it fits.

Tell us about your fursona's eye colour; Why did you chose this colour? Does it mean anything special to you?

my current fursona has black eyes, they turn matte sometimes as well. i never really liked my eye color at all! it is a murky gray-ish green color, quite light in hue, and many people mistake them for being absolutely colorless. i have always thought deep, black, eyes would be incredibly cool. there would still be the white of the eye, it would just look like you had a black iris. so cool.

How did you choose your fursonas name?

well i just recently (in the past year or so) started using my name for my sona. i like my name quite a bit (seeing as it is old fashioned and nice and round sounding) and made it a formal alternative to my current sona's name. however, her true name is simply, bird. i am in love with owls and corvids and all birds dark and iridiscent. i plan on keeping it this way, though maybe making olivia the true name and bird the nickname. who knows ! (also my name is olivia. in case you are wondering what it was heh. )

Tell us about your fursona's eye colour; Why did you chose this colour? Does it mean anything special to you?

I've always favored brown for my fursona's eye colour, though I did play around with blue and yellow for a while. I like brown because it shows my darker and pessimistic view on situations and actions, perhaps life all together. I perceive very negatively, and I felt like it was a big enough character flaw to add to my 'sona. ^-^ Plus my own eyes are brown, which made me feel a little closer to him.

I got two new pieces of art of my fursona just recently, I thought I'd show them off^^'.


The first one is made by Partial Topaz. It shows Partial Topaz's brand new fish fursona (in the bowl) and Spot taking a nap. It's a great image and it suits me vey well; I can sleep anywhere^^.


This amazing painted headshot is made by tennisbutt. It's so realistic and stylized at the same time, and I adore the soft texture. <3

Is some part of your fursona's apperance/accessories based on your own looks?
Mostly my fursona is only based on natural hyena patterns, but there are a few things that are borrowed straight from my apperance. One thing is the pawprint marking on her left shoulder; it's a tattoo that I have in real life. Another thing, um, it isn't exactly the same, but I tried to pick some fur colours that are close to my hair colour. It seemed kind of natural to have fur that's similar to my hair for some reason. Spot also has the same set of piercnings I have, even if I rarely include them when I draw^^'. You can see the piercings really well in Tennis' picture above though.

Is some part of your fursona's apperance/accessories based on your own looks?

Eliana was mainly based off of the things that represent me and things that I like, but yes, there are some aspects of her that are based off of me. ^^

Her eye color is directly from me, and I chose her breed because it was the most similar to me in looks as well as in size. Eliana is an anatolian shepherd, and they are rather large dogs, like how I'm tall and tower over all of my friends. X3

Manhattan is just based off of a red panda. That's really all there is to it. I just love those cute little animals!

Hmmm, well most of Savannah isn't too much based on my own physical appearance, she wears a collar sometimes, which I don't but i've had thought about it. She's small too, which i'm not actually in real life, i'm pretty average height. But I did think about giving her freckles when I made her since I have tons of freckles. Most of her physical appearance is just like that for either mental reasons, or emotional reasons, her tail is short because i'm short to anger.

So not much is really similar to me in real life. |D

Kind of, though in subtle ways.

When I started thinking about having a house cat as a fursona, I knew I wanted it to be longhaired, because I myself have long hair. At it's longest it reached to the waistband of my pants, and I'm currently trying to grow it to past my chest like was a few years ago before I got it cut rather short. There's also the scarf that Josephine wears, which is a callback to my favorite hobby: Knitting. I like wearing scarves a lot irl, especially ones I've knit myself, though I get warm very easily. And then there's her eye color, which is green like mine, though a lot more vibrant. ^^
