I just have a question, if the gap really is that large on the Mainlist, then why isn't separated into two lists (July and August)?

The idea of the big gap is something that needs to be clarified. I personally feel like it's something Komi might be able to make clearer when she gets the time to maybe do so.

The "big gap" line on the main list is there to clarify the idea that as you go up the list, the gaps between consecutive on the pets on the list generally get bigger and bigger, and this is true. The primary divide between the low and high main lists is the non-level. One thing that many people don't quite understand or know is that nons are worth 3 sorbets each, so the big gap is there to remind people of this (this is also noted at the bottom of the post). The actual gap between the BEG/Spotted Tribal and the Mint Horse is not actually "gigantic" or anything, if that caused confusion (I assume it did or still does for many people in that sense).

Also, the list can't really be separated into a July and August list simply because of the overlap between trading values. There are some August pets such as the Blue and Purple Toxics, which are worth more than some July pets (such as the sorbets). In addition, consolidating everything into one list makes it much more smooth and flows better overall to give a better idea of the transitions and building gaps as you ascend the list.

This consist will basically contain the rarest adoptable pets on the site, and their ordering on the lists is according to their value via trading, relative to other pets. There are rare pets that are rarer than others, and this deals with how rarity is assigned (based on the number of adopts per a number of players). Age of pets, as well as demand (somewhat) affects their placement on the list, so the pets on the list are not ordered according to just rarity and how rare pets are compared to others.

This is true as well. There are some rare pets that are simply older or more desired than some very rare pets, in which case the value (tradeable) of the rare pet may be higher than that of the very rare pet. This is subject to change and fluctuation though over time. This same concept applies to just the group of very rare pets too for example, where some very rare pets are rarer or more valuable than others.

It's just because the outcome was that rare. :) Plus of course a little demand thrown it but it was an extremely rare outcome to get - just like the dark shima BW. :)
