Fair enough. . . I MIGHT be able to make them transparent. Provided the images aren't a light cream or white colour. There should be a good contrast. . .

If you're having trouble making them transparent, can I make a suggestion?
Fill in the background as some random bright color not found in the image at all. As long as it's a good quality image, it should fill in just fine. Then it makes it a lot easier to make transparent via editor or online transparency thingy. (Even if speckles weird, you could up the tolerance for filling and that should fix the problem.)
I always use bright pink for transparencies because it's just a color that isn't found too often. It looks funny until you get the transparency to show. XD
