They won't be staying the same because their lines are still art theft. They said that those horses will be getting new, unique lines.

I haven't finished reading this but I wanted to say what I feel. Many people are concerned with the way Tess handled it but I read it differently.

Basically to me it sounds like when the poll was put up their main concern was uniformity, the tracing was not fresh in their minds and was not a reason. Members were the ones to bring up the tracing. Tess states in this thread (sorry I didn't keep the link or page number) that after seeing all the comments of art theft as reasons for yes she realised that the Yes had a stronger case. The way she worded this made me feel that she hadn't given much thought to the art theft problem as a reason before making the poll. When the poll was made the staff had not realised they would absolutely have to change the lines. However the comments alerted them to the risk and the staff decided that it was important for the site's integrity to uphold their own rules. They also realised that should legal action be taken they could be forced to delete the pets, they thought it would be better to save the designs and the pets in our groups by making a lineart change. Otherwise there was a chance that any day we could all lose a sizeable chunk of our collections.

What I'm trying to say is Tess and the others didn't think about the issues of tracing before posting the poll, it was the comments (and how deeply offended the commenter were by art theft) which alerted them to this issue. Perhaps it could have been better handled, but that relies on Tess planning this change because of the tracing, and I don't think she did.


If I have this Wrong Tess please let me know.


Edit: SO it seems like this was an old topic so I'll add something to match the current discussion. Eqiuneimagine's horses had very flat, sharp colouring, and this worked well with the lineart, but I think the artist have made a good choice in adding more detail since such flat colouring would not work on Yul's lineart. If the colouring had stayed exactly the same I think the pets would have looked worse than the originals, as they are now I think they are good but different, they've been drawn in a different style, but they are still the same pets.

Hmm being new here I haven't really come across the old lines to me this is still a grey argument but I glad to see CS staff being so strict about there rules good work and am excited maybe I will get a chance to see and maybe own one of the updated pets

Just seen the new lines on some of my beautiful ponies Preferred the old design!
Except for the draft horses. I LOVE the new designs for those!

The old lines are way better! Why do we need to change them!? There is no point in it! They've been around for so long, so far why change them now? It hasn't been a problem for years, why start fussing over them now?

Don't just say you hate the new lines, the front post easily shows why they are being changed.

I feel very happy with the change. Though I was not here for when the lines were realised I have a number of horses in those lines and I can't wait to see them re-drawn.
