Melanie woke up and stretched
Shadow woke up curled up next to Shale who was watching the pines around them. She yawned and liked his cheek prying a smile from him which made her smile.
Shale had been unable to sleep so had kept watch. When Shadow licked him he smiled. The smile it gave her made him smile more. His sister was his world to him after rabis had torn apart his pack.
River trotted up a hill to watch the sun rise.

Shadow shrunk into her brothers side in fear but relaxed as he licked her head.
River watched the sunrise.
