"Duchess!" The woman stood at the back door and called for her. Duchess jogged over to her with her tail wagging fast. She sat down and cocked her head asking what she wanted. "Do you wanna go outside?" She asked the dog. Duchess stood up and went over to the door and waited for it to be opened. As soon as it was, she dashed out the door. Duchess walked around in the cool grass and inhaled the fresh air. Then, she walked to the front of the house and watched the neighborhood residents and dogs walk by through the space of the white picket fence. This was her routine and she could do this all day if she was aloud to.


Ripper wandered down the ally behind a restaurant in search of food. He put his wet black nose to the cement and smelled. Then, his ears perked up and he ran to a nearby trash can. He put his front paws on it and tipped it over to remove to lid. Then, he tore open the trash bag and ate as quickly as he could because he knew that if he was found either he would be chased away or worse, have the dog catcher after him. But, before he knew it. the door was opened and a man was shouting at him. Ripper growled at the man who held a broomstick and he yelled, "Quick, we need animal control!" Then, Ripper made a quick escape once the man looked away for a few seconds. Ripper ran only for a few blocks before the heat got to him and then walked back to his small make do home to get out of the heat.

Shimmer looked at Ashley as she went inside. Just then her stomach growled. "Maybe if I play injured they'll give me some food." she thought to herself while approaching the doggy door. Shimmer stuck her head through and started whimpering.

A human opened the door, and saw the poor 'Pup' "Awww!" it said. It had asked Shimmer if she wanted food.
Asley heard 'Food', and ran towards her owner, "Hi, again..." Ashley said, looking at the ground. Ashley remembered the eyes, and saw those eyes, again. She walked off, onto the couch...

Shimmer nodded now respectfully at Ashley, since that seemed to be her owner, and continued whimpering. She hated having to stoop so low that she would have to beg but it was an easy meal, humans are suckers for a whimpering german shepard 'pup'.

The human had put some food in a food bowl for the 'pup' to eat. Ashley walked over, and started to talk to Shimmer, "So, is it hard being a stray?!" She yipped excitedly. She had never been this close to a stray dog before. Ashley had always wanted to be a stray, but she wanted advise before she did. "Do I need to look out for anything, when I am out there!?" She said, whispering at the 'out there' part. Also, at the 'out there' part, she pointed her tail outside.

"Yes, it's horrible out there. You need a companion or you'll probably die on the spot. And there's lots of stuff to look out for such as cars, other strays, rabid strays, most people, food that smells like poison, other stray's territory, and lastly, other animals that are roaming the streets." Shimmer replied as she swallowed her first bite of food through the doggy door.

"Can we become 'companions? We would have so much fun together! I mean, you came to me!" Ashley became excited again, but soon got herself together. "You came to me, when I called for 'a' stray, not meaning you! So, you came to me! Then, you asked for food, from me! Isn't that exciting, we are practically already 'companions'!" Ashley squealed with delight. "Come on, please! You can show me around, and-and-and-" Ashley trailed off, as she saw her owner pick up Shimmer. "Hey, you! What are you doing up there!" Ashley teased.

"Wait, what are you doing?! Put me down you filthy human!!! Or I'll bite you!!" Shimmer barked in a threatening voice. She snarled like a demon dog at the human, hoping to make it release her. When it didn't work and Shimmer found herself being squished against the human's chest in a bear hug she peed on herself and the human.

The human practically dropped Shimmer. "Why did you do that? She was doing something nice, because usually, afterwords, I get a treat!" Ashley said, looking up at the human. "Well, what are you going to do now? We should go out, and be strays! Won't that be fun! We can be computers? Whatever it is called, we can be together!" Ashley was yipping and yipping.
(The human put them outside...)
"Wow! I really had to pee!" Ashley said, peeing.

Cleo
Cleo smelt pee in the distance, and went over to where it was. "Hello, is anyone there?" Cleo asked, through Ashley's fence. Cleo waited a second, before banging on the fence, to get a reply. After that didn't work, she layed down, waiting for a dog to stare through the whole in the fence, and see her.
