I am not sure if it was on this thread or the other one where it was explained that some of the designs look different because the original artist used a different art program or had different brushes that the artists, who are currently getting eye strain (my wording) trying to get the designs out as quick as possible, do not have available to them meaning that they could not copy the designs exactly and are trying to keep the 'feel' of the old design as true as possible.
While I can understand that, some (like the stormcloud pony) have avast difference.
Those who were never a big fan of the old lines horses and ponies have no problem with this and say they like the new ones better... those who loved those sharper edges in the designs and the old lines are upset that it was implied that the designs would 'cross over' almost exactly as they were in the old lines and when expecting to see the same designs are shocked to see such noticeable changes.
I see many saying "I was never a fan of the old horses anyway and like these a lot better" have to understand that those who loved the different poses and actions in the old lines are upset that their beloved horses are all getting the current horse and pony lines with no line edits to keep some individuality in position and movement.
As an example to explain how this feels to those who had horses as their favorite species in the game... what if all cats were moved to one line (warrior cats moved to the current cat line) and all dogs moved to a single pose (all ears down, bob tail and grinning). They would not like it at all and be upset because part of the thing they love about those pets are the positions they have in the line art.

I didn't mean I wanted them to copy it exactly. Revamping is revamping and the revamped rain and clouds looks lovely!
I just don't like unnecessary changes that are just for the sake of change and no other reason. Why change the hoof color? It was a striking part of the original design.

i'm a bit late to the conversation, but i completely agree with shian here. while i understand that revamping the design a bit and making it more realistic [as i'm sure equi imagined it] is great and ensures that the design looks good on the new lines, but i don't understand why such little things that were great about the original design were changed. it kind of defeats the purpose of copying equi's designs on to the new lines when things are unnecessarily changed, but maybe that's just me.
other than that, though, i'm very pleased with how the change is coming along.

Of course the designs weren't going to be exactly the same as the old ones, they were being revamped after all.
No, I don't. I seem to remember a certain someone (and several other people that were wondering what the big deal with the 'no's were) stating that we'd have the same colors, just on different lines if the ETP went through. Reassuring the people against the ETP that the designs would not change.
http://i.imgur.com/i8QGMS7.pngThe example page that was give at voting time looks that way to me too: All the pets pictured look as close to exact to me. Their hooves and manes weren't changed at all. Great! ETP looks good then!
Everything after that is not really that close to the original design. While I was in favor of the ETP, this just leaves a sour taste in my mouth that screams 'false advertising'.
False advertising? Now I think you're taking this a bit too seriously. Everyone knew that the designs were going to be revamped, which means changed. Unless Equi came back to switch the designs to the new lines, there was bound to be differences. No true artist is completely okay with copying another's design exactly without, in this case, improving on it.
But believe what you like I suppose, it is your opinion after all. c:
Also keep in mind that it can be very difficult to pick the correct colors from a pre-existing, shaded design. In some cases, the new artist may have had to manually choose a color that looked alright because the original colors where difficult to match or didn't look right on the new lines.
Colors not being 100% exact seems like an odd thing to complain about.
In fact, I've been seeing a lot of complaints that make me feel kind of bad for the artists spending their time and energy making this change. :/ Why poke your annoyance about one or two tiny little things with so little gratitude for what we're getting. If you don't like the change, fine, just say so, but why continue to complain and nit-pick when all it's going to do is insult the artists? The change has already been decided on and it has to be made. Might as well get over it without trying to bring everyone down with you.

I'm glad this is going through. I never got a chance to vote, but I know what I would have voted for. If something happened to CS, it would be terrifying. Although I really do love my old horses, and wish they didn't have to change, it's for the best.
