I mainly feed it to my cats and dogs because it seems to be the only food they like. I've tried innova, blue buffalo, evo, and avoderm but my animals are really picky, so as I said, canyon creeks the only "good" food they'll eat, on the days I don't feed them raw that is (can't do complete raw, so I at least give them a bit of raw at least two to three times a week)

Chicken, barley, chicken meal (natural source of glucosamine), brewers rice, brown rice, beef fat (preserved with mixed tocopherols - form of vitamin E), oat meal, dried egg product, brewers dried yeast, pea protein, dried peas, dried carrots, dried beet pulp, pea fiber, natural flavor, fish oil, potassium chloride, salt, calcium carbonate, calcium phosphate, zinc proteinate, vitamin E supplement, choline chloride, l-lysine monohydrochloride, dl-methionine, manganese proteinate, ferrous sulfate, niacin, copper proteinate, vitamin A supplement, calcium pantothenate, thiamine mononitrate, riboflavin supplement, vitamin B-12 supplement, pyridoxine hydrochloride, folic acid, vitamin D-3 supplement, calcium iodate, biotin, menadione sodium bisulfate complex (source of vitamin K activity), sodium selenate

Ingrediants list.

I know some of their treats were recalled - I can't remember why - but not their dog foods. Though if anyones heard differently please let me know asap.

I haven't heard of the food being recalled directly but it's known they source their meat from China. The reason the treats were recalled is due to a bacteria that was causing kidney failure and even death and it was the chicken treats too. So, it's up to you if you still want to trust them or not. I personally wouldn't, due to all the recalls we've had in the past years from products sourced directly from China (and I'm not just talking about pet food either).

Cats are carnivores and shouldn't be fed corn, peas or other 'random stuff'. Cats also have a low thirst drive and so should be fed mainly or only wet food to avoid things like UTIs and worse stuff. Even terrible wet food is better than all dry most of the time. c:
What other brand do they get? :D

can`t remember. It`s one of the generic brands from trader joe`s.

We mostly get that stuff now. And the corn and peas are just when they fall on the ground, cause my kittehs love it. The "other random stuff" is mostly bits of fish, maybe a bit of cheese or something that falls and some fruit, which they love. But yeah... speaking of fish, we just bought like 100 of those little cans. The dry food is mostly for when i go on vacation, and i dont want stuff to spoil.

Oh my, today I bought IAMS food for my cat. I usually feed her with Royal Canine and Eukanuba and I just thought IAMS will be better. Silly me. Is IAMs so bad?

Thank GOD I did not give my puppy, Sugar, any poisons. Well, she almost ate some poison ivy but I grabbed her before she took a bite. Bleh, that would taste HORRIBLE. I gave Sugar away though, but I'm so happy that I didn't give her poison! I hope the future owners don't....

If you compare the ingredients to companies like Blue Buffalo Wilderness and Evo, then yes, Iams looks terrible. Especially now that most pet owners want to give their pets the best quality food possible, which is great. Iams and Eukanuba actually come from the same company. Eukanuba is the "level up" from Iams. It's kind of like comparing Toyota and Lexus: Lexus is the luxury car brand from Toyota. Toyota is Iams; Lexus is Eukanuba. Plus, many extremely good pet owners can't afford a $60 bag of dog/cat food.

Iams has been around for a long time, many pet owners feed their pets Iams, and most of those pets (overall) have been in good shape and were "healthy." I quote healthy because everyone's definition of "healthy" is different. So, if you think about it, companies like Iams and Purina know what they're doing. Yes, they don't put in premium quality ingredients, but they are not going to put in bad ones either. Plus, I like these bigger companies because--for the most part and from my experience--they are better about taking responsibility for any mistakes or contaminations made on their part.

To answer your questions, no, Iams is not so bad. So, don't worry about feeding your cat Iams. Although, in my opinion, wet food is better for cats because they are obligate carnivores and can't really digest the carbohydrates in dry food, which is why many cats on dry food tend to get overweight and obese. I've fed my dogs both Iams and Eukanuba and was happy with it. My dogs are currently on Eukanuba and Blue Buffalo Wilderness Salmon right now, and I'm happy with it.

I can give you a couple cat suggestions, if you need. Saffron has done very well on EVO and Taste of the Wild. Prior to becoming educated on where to get good foods for her, I fed her Purina One Beyond- which isn't terrible even though it's Purina. She was slightly pudgy on the same amount of One Beyond as the EVO she's eating now, and she's holding steady at 8lbs here. I have heard good things about Blue Buffalo Wilderness for cats, especially the kind with the bits of dehydrated raw. Earthborn is a nice brand if you don't want to spend too much money but do want decent food.

So, today I went into petsmart and there was this new type of dog food "Blue seal" I do not know if I should buy it. This is the first time I have come across it. Anyone know anything about this dog food. It is super cheap right now and need to know a little more. If you guys know anything please tell me :D

Regular fish works. Just make sure the cans say "Dolphin or Whale safe" Because dolphin meat is bad for everyone, and contains mercury.
