So, to start a random discussion, what are some of your favorite Vocaloid + genre combinations? c:
One of my favorites is Meiko singing jazz. :3 She sounds good singing any genre in my opinion, but she seems to have a lot of jazzy potential. Too bad I've only ever heard 2 examples of her singing jazz; the "append" version of "Piano × Forte × Scandal" [I haven't heard the original version yet], and her little part as the Queen of Hearts in "Alice in Musicland".
Also, I once heard Kaito singing something Celtic-sounding and it was pretty awesome. ;w;

I realized quite a few songs I like are in the folk category 0: E.g. A Thousand year solo, a whole lot of Shigotoshite's songs, Ebot. Here's that one Kaito song that I found under Jazz that's not acapella https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bC1BoTrLBEc They both seem to be pretty versatile.

Welcome Hawkie! I became a fan in 2011 too, but I first heard of Vocaloid in 2010....but because of how they were describing it I wasn't interested. Ugh that whole thread turned into a fight too O: I felt really sorry for the OP even though I kinda vaguely remember.
