I believe the staff are waiting for a big majority to come through in the polls, for when this thread will be locked/ poll will be over.

Keep in mind, lkocking the thread locks up the poll.

Definitely agreed.

I find it useless for keeping it open, or at least posting, because people have been bringing the SAME TOPICS up for HUNDREDS of pages...aha. Repetitive much? Yah.

I'd like some proof of where you heard this 'fact'. Because this is the first time I've heard this, despite reading countless boards about this incident.

-directs you to the quote in the first post-

Tess wrote:Some users say that her lines were traced from photos. equimagine has a longer explanation for how they came about, which in a few words is basically that she referenced for personal use, forgot about it when re-using old personal sketches for CS purposes, and that some connections other users made between photos and her lines were coincidental. Some of her lines closely resemble photographs that she didn't have personal permission to use, which upset many users, and was part of the motivation for retiring her lines in the first place. She maintains that she never intended to use photo-copied linearts for CS and that it was a careless mistake. She did update the lines for a second round but people still mistrusted her and her horses and ponies were not very popular at the time (although apparently have more support these days).

Even if it's not true/stretching the truth, that's probably what dragonite based their statement off of. ^^;

Meh, I'm not buying that. Others pointed out she traced a horseshoe as well(don't remember what it was for exactly, but it was for CS) so it's not like she's totally innocent and those were the only times she traced. It's clear she was actively tracing while making art for CS. Also, basically what Articuno said above v-v I guess that's why I dismissed that paragraph as soon as I read it the first time, pft.

Haloclimb wrote:Hey guys, let's just remember Chicken Smoothie's own rules on Art Theft and Tracing:
Using photo references for your artwork:
If you heavily reference your artwork from a photograph then please give credit by posting a link to the original image. The reference information should be clearly visible above or below your image.

Copying/Tracing/Modifying/Claiming ownership of other peoples art/lineart:
If you copy, trace, or edit someone else's art (without their permission) this is considered a form of art theft.
Don't pretend to have made art which was actually made by another artist.
Don't trace or freehand copy another person's art, unless you have their permission.
Don't modify or edit another person's art unless you have their permission.

While the foal lines were traced line for line, it's pretty obvious the adult lines are heavily referenced, which would require a)permission (which was not sought) or b)credit (which was not given).
The new foal lines were also traced, the horseshoe was traced, the new shetland lines were traced off her old lines, as were the new horse lines, so really it's a no-win situation for ANY of the lines. I'd love to be able to show the picture that has the horse lines (which includes the rainbow mane) matched up perfectly with the original photograph, because all Equi did was turn the photo a little and reference it at an angle.

If we want anyone to actually follow the rules of Chicken Smoothie, we should start following the rules when it comes to these lines. As much as they might be liked, we HAVE to replace these lines. It's sad, and I'm sure they will be missed, but the rules are very clear about this kind of thing. If this were any other instance of tracing- any other member who had been accused- the art would be deleted in a day and the member warned. So lets prove we treat everyone the same and replace the lines with something NOT stolen or traced.

thank you so much for this post

Okay.. Not meaning to keep stirring the pot.. but

It clearly says that Equie redid the lines to fix the problem ... like years ago. There is nothing wrong with them now; it is just that people stopped trusting her. Read the first post.. that is exactly what it says..

Plus it was like 2 years ago..

Plus, if we are in danger of getting sued.. Tess would not have given us a choice.

By all means.. vote yes if you want to protect CS "Just in Case", but please don't tell people they can't vote no because "we are getting sued." That is incorrect information..

okay.. let the art theft comments commence.. ready????? GO!!

denying it only makes it worse don't know if they realize this but just deleting the posts only cause more problems it doesn't solve anything to delete any posts at all.

Yeah, they added rules guys.

Assuming I'm remembering correctly, her 'fixed' lines are just the old lines with some parts tilted differently. For instance, the old pony and the edited pony still have the exact same legs. So, although some parts might be 'clean', the lines are still technically theft ^^;

"total members = 280564"
Yeah we'll get there soon //looks at the number of votes
But I have changed my mind from maybe to yes, with the same reason as many have said with art theft. Also keeping in mind much of the horses/ponies look better in equin then they do in yulh, in mind that is. If they're exicuted (or other words made) correctly in good ways they shouldn't look to bad. (sorry for misspellings).
But I'd also would like to say if you have multiple lines harder it is to trace. Why? Well because if every thing had the same exact line wouldn't be that hard to choose what to trace would it...
Although, if any thing, The Staff/drawers can make the pictures uncopyable, ex: every one of them has some thing different in lines-which would of been better then putting up a poll for hundreds of pages having the same argument, or change the "file type" from png/jpg/whatever it is, to one that can not be highlighted/copied. Even though Screen shots can be used you can make them work for that line art..

bless this post. everyone NEEDS to read this, ESPECIALLY the paragraph with the links that proves the second set of lines (which were supposed to be "clean") are in fact, just another set of traced lines. :I
