Ah, but the pictures helped much better. I still have a hard time seeing how the horse is running, but at least now I can see that it's moving. (Slow lope?)

It's called a canter in those pictures since they are both english riders XD its very similar to a lope

This is a good video with it XD http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7mj37oHOeNQ its like a lope but more animated
(between the trotting XD they are doing transitions, but you can see the cantering there well enough  )

With English style riding, the canter can seem like a kind of loping. c:

Im just thinking out loud here, but I wonder if once the drafts get moved to the new lines if they will come out of retirement. I think not, but I also think there might be a slight possibility of it :3

Actually yes, I wanted to do more a canter pose for my horse because I wanted to do something different than Equimagine's, that are clearly running as free. My horses are more in a working canter.

That makes me even more confused x.x The legs don't go up that high during a slow lope/canter and if the horse was flat out running, the head would be lower.

I third this! More drafts would be so excellent. ^_^

On another note...: Since I know nothing about horses irl, I didn't even know horses could canter. >_> ::is ashamed:: Seriously. Whether it's called a canter or a lope, I think Yulynh did a good job of capturing the movement!

Canter is a slow run. Loping is going even slower- something a horse would not naturally do but it can be trained to do so, just like backing up.

A canter is basically the exact same movement that you'll see when a cat or dog runs, just usually less stretched out. It's hard to explain if you're not familiar with horses, but that's the basic idea of the movement. Us horse people just like to make things more confusing, I guess. xD
And yes, we need more drafts!
