The Rat Lovers Club! V2

My boys are eating like tiny little kings tonight! I had thought I had another tub of their food mixed up in the pantry but turns out I didn't. So since I didn't have anything to give them besides some oatmeal and pasta, they each got half of a bite of steak that was left over from dinner tonight.

Baze was a very excited boy when I handed him that chunk of steak, haha!

(Note: I had a normal sized bite of steak cut off, and I cut that in half giving them each half. Neither got a huge piece but it wasn't tiny either.)

{That's always something I have wondered about...rats and meat? I've never actually given my guys any meat. I can never really picture rats being anything other than herbivores. Should they really have meat, though?}

Armageddon loves chicken! I give it to him as a treat every once in awhile when I can get it for him.^^

Both my boys get chicken atleast every three days when I have it. If I happen to be eating a thing of nuggets or something. I will sometimes give them both a small piece. They seem to love it, so when the choice came to either steak or raw cookie dough, they got steak of course. (We really need to shop lol)

And yes the image of a rat with a little crown on a tiny throne is beyond amusing! If I can find the props, I may put a crown on Baze one day and do a little photo shoot with him as a rat king! (I tend to always have a camera nearby, and I love doing little photo sessions with my boys. I have some adorable pics of them at the 'beach'!)

Armageddon would get chicken more but my stepdad doesn't allow it so I have to sneak it to him. My stepfather doesn't like my boy he doesn't like any of my pets of me for that matter. So it's hard to give Geddy treats. I have to sneak everything to him. My stepfather keeps trying to come up with excuses of things I'm doing wrong that would force me to give Geddy up. Luckily my mom loves him so he isn't going anywhere.

My stepdad isn't too fond of my boys either, luckily he just leaves them alone and lets me do what I want with them. (He'd probably hate my other pets too, but my puppy is impossible to not love, and my cat leaves him alone)

My brother once had a rat (maybe it was a mouse but whatever) that my parents didn't know he had, and so he would put the food in his mouth, pretend to chew it, then go into his room and give it to them. (Soudns kind of gross but it works)

{I'll have to keep all that in mind! We'll see how it goes whenever I give my boys a taste of meat. It should be interesting, as they have only had their rat food, fruit, veggies, and chewing blocks in their diet. Then again, I have caught them crunching on the occasional bug under the bed...which I find a bit disgusting, and tend to make them spit it out. It's bad enough that my dog eats bugs. Along with a list of other things that should not be eaten. But back to the point at hand.}
{I guess I've lucked out in the sense that both my parents love my ratters. At first they were both very reluctant, but who can resist a cute rat or two? ewe}

Sorry but I saw some-one say that rats are herbivorous. Rats are actually omnivorousness however we feed them on a vegetarian diet because they can live on this perfectly fine. In the wild they will kill baby birds and smaller rodents when the oportunity comes up.

So turns out that feeding Bug steak one night and summer sausage the next without getting him out to play makes him a fat little rat! Whoops!

Anyways my boys, my mother, my cat and I might be going on a road trip Sunday. (My great-grandmother is possibly dying) not sure if Baze and Bug will be coming, but hopefully since I'd hate to leave them home alone for a week.

Soo I'm having to reduce my colony before I get overwhelmed. Looking for homes for my retired/pet only bubs.. I've had interest but it was from someone I refuse to adopt to after seeing the condition And aggression her rats are in/have.

Also, I'm having to give my capped double rex I got last week back. Turns out the bugger is preggers! Luckily my friend doesn't mind and the more babies the merrier for her. I also have to give up my male mice.. terrible accident happened between the boys and I have to put Peabodi down later today.. bringin' him to my friends to be pts and pick up my bearded dragon.. alsooo gonna see, since I'll have the spare cage, if I can nab one of her english mice (hopefully a hairless) as strictly pet-only. Preferably male since I seriously love the boys.. ;-;

Last but not least, Naomi is HUGE! She's due in a week and a half and already looks like she's about to pop.. gonna be a huuuuge litter.. >.< argh.. also I still don't have internet. Won't for another week most likely soo I'm using my phone.. once I do I'll get updated photos of my colonies. ^^
