most of my friends are quitting too because of this change. some i never get to see because they live far away from me now. :(

im keeping my mouth shut after this because i know no mere person is going to see my reasoning to any thing :silent:

[edit: why don't you just make like a setting on the account for the users "switch to current line art" and "switch to classic line art" ?that will make both "no" and "yes" people happy]

Please don't go around implying that everyone has traced so this is okay. Please. Nothing makes an artist angrier than implying we'd do something so lazy and gross. Just because you may have traced and cheated doesn't mean everyone else has. That's like saying because one person bullies or steals, EVERYONE does.
And as for the quitting- as Harpyalyce so eloquently put it,
'If people are going to quit because they are upset about the possibility of CS no longer tacitly condoning art theft... I say good riddance. We as a community pride ourselves on artistic integrity. It's time we got all of the lineart in line with that philosophy. If somebody isn't on board with making honest artwork, they aren't a good fit for this community and I sincerely hope they go ahead and leave.'

I need all of the facts to convict her and that takes more than just the pictures. That would take talking to the person or people she allegedly copied from.. and that is not gonna happen.

it is wrong to vote becuz you have "proof" and you know it all ... when you dont.

Well, here's your proof, bud.

Try explaining this.

Well "bud" (really?)

I have seen those pics plenty.. they were only posted every other page. But evidently you didnt read what I said.. I personally need more than "live" pictures. It is 3 to 4 years later... and 2 year since she left. Why you are forcing me to convict Equie.. when Tess herself.. isn't asking us to do that? She just wants to know what we think on the linearts...

It like a mob mentality.. .. in here..

^^^^And what is more important than that.. I was not asked to be on the jury. Tess asked our opinion regarding uniformity.. and cleaner lines... not whether or not we should make Equie dissappear.

^^^^^Again.. I repeat. there is nothing wrong with deciding yes because you think she traced them.... and there is noting wrong with voting yes just simply to protect CS's reputation and PREVENT any future issues.. but it is wrong to vote becuz you have "proof" and you know it all ... when you dont.

and with the DMCA, you're guilty unless proven innocent.
the owners of the photos have already been contacted, and shutterstock did express their concerns and stated they're looking into the issue [not trying to cause panic - but as stated a few pages ago, it wasn't simply the mandatory email]. however, i believe the worst they'll do is contact tess about it rather than actually filing a complaint - it could happen, though. and even if it doesn't, that doesn't make it right.

There was an email? Can someone quote it please?

I do agree to the change just to be rid of traced lines.
I also find it easier to have one set of linearts then 3.

Can we please at least try to stay on the subject of whwther or not the lineart should be changed. If there are any legal issues then they will be dealt with by the admins, that is not what is up for discussion here.

It doesn't matter if charges are filed or not. Art theft is ART THEFT. Period. It's not good to endorse this behavior at all, since users like yourself are apparently taking this whole issue to say "oh if the art theft was done a while ago and no one has pressed charges it's obviously okay!!!"

what... kind of message is this even sending to our users!? Ugh. I can't believe what I'm reading here.

As far as I know, no claims have been made, or even queries made into it.

Several people have contacted the original owners of the photographs, and apparently they are not pleased.

If anyone else would like to get in contact with the owners of the photographs, let me know. I posted their contact info as best I could find on the thread and would be happy to repost it.

you have more people quitting than you think. think of it as a small version of "the Twinkies extinction" a lot of people were mad... heck some even went made and killed them selves. look at it from my point of view: [each old line art is a twinkie, when the twinkies are no more so are the twinkie fans...just think of it as each dead account is a dead person] sorry to make it dark...but that's just the way i think :ugeek:

im keeping my mouth shut after this because i know no mere person is going to see my reasoning to any thing :silent:

If you don't care, that's fine and dandy, but be open-minded and realize that others do care.
Did you make a mistake so big that thousands of people were affected by it, and a website illegally profited off of it?
As I said before, I've seen users threatening to quit on both sides of the debate. Not to be rude or blunt, but if someone commits suicide (which shouldn't even be discussed on this website) over a line-art change- or Twinkies, for that matter, chances are the person has severe mental disabilities and is not a good representation of the matter.

That's cute because, last time I checked, NOBODY has said anything like that.
You're throwing it way out of proportion.
Her artwork is stolen and we want it gone.
Simple as that.
