This argument is getting stupider and stupider. I don't care anymore.

Calix wrote:TGenie, will you please stop insulting/bashing Yul's lines? It's fine if you don't think they're 100% correct but you don't need to insult the lines left and right.

My thoughts exactly.

I think another thing I really like about the new draft lines is the way the horse is standing. Like it's awaiting a job and standing proud. c:

Anyway, Shutterstock is already thinking of legal action.

Whoa, where did you hear that?

Don't worry - it's false. ;3 Pretty sure there's been no contact from any of the photographers or sites at this point, and the people who contacted them just got the standard "Thank you for your concern" email back. If anyone was actually going to take legal action (which wouldn't make any sense in this situation anyway, as it's a DMCA issue), they certainly wouldn't be expressing it to random people who emailed them instead of the site owner. Equi's lines are tracings of REAL PICTURES. We can't use them in the site otherwise some huge problems will happen.

Don't you mean huge problems MIGHT happen?

If they WILL happen.. you A) have pertinent information that we are unaware of... or B) calling Tess out on this becuase she knows something but still gives us a VOTE .. therefore risking her own site.. or C) Over- reacting and trying to scare people into thinking what you think.

Yes.. something could happen.. yes.. it maybe smart to take whatever steps to protect CS reputation.. but paranoia is just a crappy argument..

thanks! I just would like to see as many members as possible vote so its a true majority vote

the anatomy of a draft issue on here has made me laugh...I own a draft and she is quite a stocky 18H Belgian....guys a draft horse is a class of horse not a Breed and depending on the breed..Shire, Belgian, Clyde, etc as well as, stallion, mare etc plays a roll in stockiness and as always in the horse world different conformation like the amount of arc in the neck muscles changes the appearance of the entire horse so I doubt there is a perfectly right answer on this issue when doing the line art for these gentle giants =)

There seems to be a new argument every hour on this thread. :/
Honestly, seeing the people quitting because they don't want the lines to change is a bit dramatic.
But I do have to say, that I think that the new draft lines are much better than the old ones. They have good detail, and look more like a draft than Equin's did. They also have a good stance and a better representation of what a real sraft should look like.

my reptiles (aka my personal pets)
1.1 Uromastyx geyri, 3.1 Uromastyx ornata, 1.0 Uromastyx acanthinurus nigriventris, 2.0 piebald ball pythons, 1.0 puma ball python

i study lizards & bugs and like animals

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

I don't think they look like they're frowning. You're seeing what you want to see, TGenie, just like everyone else. I look at the new draft and see my neighbor's old draft horse. Thick-set, strongly muscled, with a determined and gentle look on his face.
But that's my personal opinion. You have yours, I have mine, everyone else has theirs.

Because Equimagine's lines are considered stolen and violating Copyright laws :) Besides, the designs are still by her, so of course some of it's by her, actually, the most important part is by her- the designs! Does this make sense?

There are a HUGE variety of draft horse breeds, all bred for different purposes. The horses you see in parades and budweiser commercials are very different horses from the drafts you'll see, say, working on a farm.
To me, Equi's horses look more like carriage horses. Horses built to pull wagons are usually MASSIVE, long-legged horses. They're built to be strong, but they're also bred for looks. These horses usually look like normal horses, but larger and more muscular.

Yulynh's are much closer to working-type drafts. They're stocky, THICK, and friendly looking. These horses are specifically bred to be good natured (an animal that can pull this much weight better respect you, or you're doomed) and strong. They look like big horses that were squished down. They very thick, powerful animals.

Yulynh's linearts definitely reflect this, right down the the determined, friendly look on their faces.
Personally, I'm a huge fan of this lineart and think it represents a draft horse perfectly. Just not the draft horse you have in mind.

I'm just going to quote this because it was well-written, correct and it should have ended all arguments.

It may be well worded but will not change people's opinions. Personally I think the old draft lines fit the site better, if you look even just at a glance the old lines appear to be smiling and happy. When you look at the new lines however they just appear to be out of proportion and they have a really serious look on their face, almost as if they are frowning.

I don't think one hundred posts could change anyone's opinion. And I totally agree that the old lineart's look much happier! Don't get me wrong, the new lines are great, but I love the old lines and I personally like a mix. There is nothing wrong with the new lines though. I know horses don't always look like they are smiling, but I don't care so much for realism as I care for cuteness.

Yeah.. they are cute.. and I do love the horses and ponies she made.. But equi obviously didn't spend a lot of time if she traced it.
